Allegedly there are 15K albums stored, but they aren't all in this room.

Throw in a handful of bookshelves full of good books, and I'd never leave. Ever.

Amazing! This is exactly what we need in times like this.

Here’s some revolutionary Latin jazz to move things along.

Sapparo is a city in Japan I've wanted to visit for ages and I now have another reason to.

Oh look - found the cover shot of Wilco's upcoming 55th album, Hudson Vessel Hopscotch. It too is ranked behind Summerteeth. :p

Sapporo. I was there a couple of weeks ago.

The Sapporo Brewery Museum is a great place to have barbecue dinner and drinks, and the Sankaku Fish Market in Otaru is a must, if you find food like this appetizing:

Hokkaido, the prefecture it's in has always fascinated me. Mountainous, remote, and the snowboarding from what I've heard is great. Would also love to just explore the mountains there.

Roger Mayer speaks about getting the right sound for Bob Marley & The Wailers Exodus. Here's something I never even thought about:

What was it like working on Bob and Junior's guitars?

I wanted to fix that up to give off a really authentic, top-quality sound. I moved on to Bob's guitars because Junior already had a guitar that I'd previously modified and had been used in concert and in the studio. I went through all of Bob's guitars, tuned them up, and rebuilt the whole guitar.

Every guitar that had been down in Jamaica for years had to be completely pulled apart and rebuilt because of what the humidity in the tropics would do to the electrics in the guitar. Once I made sure the band was mechanically sound, and actually in tune, and sounded perfect with all the harmonics resonating, that's when we could really get started. That was the beginning of it.

A book excerpt on Bill Berry's scary aneurysm back in 1995 & his rapid recovery

The Night R.E.M.’s Drummer Almost Died Onstage
It was 1995, and the band from Georgia was touring the world on the strength of three smash-hit albums in a row when Bill Berry collapsed—and everything almost fell apart.

I was at the final two Atlanta shows. I think either Mills or Buck had an appendectomy later (by that I mean after Bill's incident) in the tour and Stipe hurt himself too somehow. So the last night of the show, the front row of Philips Arena was filled with family and friends----all of them were wearing hospital scrubs and other doc garb. It was really funny and the band had a good laugh when they took the stage.

Help! I got caught up in the post election hate thread. And I do hate. But I have to get away from it.

Our group, consisting of about 5 regulars and anyone who comes to join us meet in the market cafe Thursday and Sunday afternoons for about 3 hours. Each guy in turn plays his song with the backing of the rest. Most old numbers from way back. I’m working on one for Thursday, never paid attention to it back then but now I’m an old fart I want to do it. “Father and Son” from Yusaf
It’s a bit of a stretch for me playing/singing in G the low is low and the high, an octave higher. Both meet the limits of my range. Came out OK with a backing track so I’ll try.
Last week I went with. “Wake me up When September Ends”. Surprised how well it was received by the people there. Yeah, another in G.
OK, feeling calmer now, time to take Bandit the Border collie out for his walk. RUN!!!
