I wrote to Alternative Tentacles for a copy of the HR Giger poster that was controversial and helped lead to their demise. It took a while to come and when I got it it looked like someone had tampered with the envelope. Not something I could let dear old Ma see on the wall. Suppose I wanted it as a collector's item.

Still have a chipped (small chip) tooth from diving off a stage during one of their shows and getting a boot in the face (unintentionally) by another dude who was crowd surfing.
Opened for them at a dive bar in town. Great, fun night. David Ryan Harris came up to me stoned as he could get (if his eyes were any indicator), told me he loved us.
They were all really cool guys. I had friends who were good friends with a couple of them and we'd "pre-show" with them on occasion when they'd come to Athens. I'm sure I've bored the hoi polloi here before with the story that years later, ended up coaching Jamie's kid in soccer. After a few practices when I realized who his dad was, I was gobsmacked.
Saw this in a Richmond diner over the weekend. I think this will be my craft present for everyone this Christmas.

I saw George Porter Jr (bassist of the Meyers) Trio tonight and they opened with Soul Bossa Nova and closed with the Sanford and Son theme song.
We played this tune back in Jazz Band in High School. I randomly search YouTube every few years to try to find it and never had any luck, until today! We didn't sound nearly this good and I think our tempo was a bit slower, but it was a fun one.
The original of this tune (posted earlier) featured Leon Ware, Minnie Riperton, and a young Al Jarreau. Here, Ware revisits his old role with Carleen Anderson from Brand New Heavies as Minnie and Michael Franti from Spearhead providing spoken word and backup vox. 2001, Amsterdam.
