Not at all surprised about country, but even though I can't stand their music I'm just a tiny bit surprised about DMB fans. I would think they would be prickly and sanctimoniously awful, but not necessarily overtly mean. That weirdly makes me happy to hear, although I'm sorry you and others had to deal with them.
Spent a couple of hours in a motel room with my boss, Hank Jr, and Merle Kilgore once. Longest week of my life; couldn't decide if he was more pathetic than disgusting or not.
A lot of music really hasn't had a rebellious streak in a while. The one thing working at an arena for shows is that you develop a cautious relationship with alcohol. I saw too many people vomiting in the parking lot an hour before showtime. Pretty much, and it's entitlement mixed with alcohol. And Dave Matthews had all sorts. It also didn't help that barring two songs I never cared for Dave Matthews.
That's a lot of the new country. The Jason Aldean, Brooks and Dunn, Toby Keith, Big and Rich, kind of crowd. I think I darted out pretty quickly when I got the all clear to go home for those shows. Willie Nelson for instance, was chill. Alan Jackson was usually fun. For DMB, about 70/30 prickly to mean. I made it a point to not work their show again or for any big shows. Quite frankly, that job had its benefits (Being able to choose your schedule was great) but it had way too many negatives.
You know, I'm honestly not surprised about Hank Jr. Much as I try not to do judge a book by the cover, I can just tell he seems like an asshole. Your brother though, sounds like an awesome boss.
Super impulsively, I took a day and a half off work last week and drove up to Council Bluffs for the Chappell Roan concert. I was expecting to just bop around in trashy lingerie with a crowd of Gen Z lesbians, belting out pop songs, and that happened and was a bunch of fun. I did not expect for Chappell and her band to rock my face off my skull, but that also happened, and was also fun. She needs to keep these ladies together. PS: Omaha smells like a feed lot.
Joni genius. Apparently Jaco Pastorius was going so hard on the bass in this song his hand was bleeding. This and Coyote are the only songs in this tuning (CGDFCE), but it's a great song.
Video game music: Silent Hill 2 soundtrack. A horror series about a town with sinister vibes, this series of games was an inspiration for the show Stranger Things. The upside down for instance, is from Silent Hill's Otherworld. Anyway, the soundtrack for SH 2 was great and terrifying. There's a remake for SH 2 and I'd love to get my hands on it. But the tracks, well, let's just say I have fun terrifying trick or treaters with them. The second one, Silent Heaven, let's just say that as a teenager, playing this while I was home alone was not a good idea.
So, Coldplay is on NBC Today. Apparently they are disbanding. I remember really liking "Clocks". But I never realized until today that they were wildly successful, apparently. I don't hate any of their stuff; I just don't notice much of it.
I have aggressively hated Chris Martin for a while. About 15 years. It doesn't make much sense, but I just can't stand the guy.

I had high hopes for them when I first heard this but then they kind of trailed off from there... in other music news sure to disappoint our US readers... Oasis immediately sell out North American tour dates (msn.com) 500,000 tickets sold in an hour.
So some Brit end of life care group says the following 10 songs are the most popular to hear on your death bed. Which is why Queen and Robby Williams on there. So it'd be interesting to see what P&CErs would have as their last song. I'll have to put some thought into this. So Roby & Dr. Wankler, why don't you get us started? I cannot hear simply the best without thinking of Dan Levy, and bless him, but that's not what I want to think about on my deathbed. There's nothing better than Beethoven to die to.
Joey Ramone died while listening to U2, apparently. Which reminds me, this seemed like a pretty good list today... Top 30 Punk Rock Songs (ultimateclassicrock.com)
I am so proud that my album says "The Beat" and not the English Beat. Also, perfect music for a treadmill session.
