Y'know, it just occurred to me that the best band name for the whole decade is out there developing better and better name recognition-- "Strong Men With Tears In Their Eyes." Their cover of "Everybody Wants To Rule the World" would be fantastic.
I can barely speak Japanese anymore, but hearing this the other day made me glad I can still remember most of it. Plus, it's a former member of YMO. Not as well known as Sakamoto but still influential. But then again, all three were in their own way. Anyway, for the words I remember. If I was on my phone I'd easily write these out in Japanese but I'm doing them in Romaji. And it's funny what I can remember yet I can't remember what I got up to do. doko = where ohayou gozaimasu = Good morning, chotto matte kudasai = wait a minute, please konbawa = good evening oyasuminasai = good night.
Additionally, he was in Purgatory. A role in a Western is the greatest TV thing you can do, ans now that so much tripe has infected the networks, one of the hardest roles to get.
Tuesday night my wife & I saw Arooj Aftab open for Khruanbin. Can't find any posted clips from that show, but it was the second of two sold-out performances; somebody who went to the Monday show posted this (she played this song again Tuesday). It's cell-phone-in-a-crowd level sound quality, but still captures a bit of the feeling.
That would have been better than who opened for them in Utah. We had Peter Cat Recording Co. They were ok.
Fantastic. Rather than play a full set followed by a short encore, they essentially did two roughly equal sets. The first was mellower and more atmospheric; the second more up-tempo. They closed with "Maria Tambien." Would absolutely see them again.
Nice! Fun show for sure. first time I saw them it was at a smaller venue near my house. Super intimate and a fun show.
The Anthem holds 6,000 and it was packed. I was with my wife so we stayed near the back. Sound was great (The Anthem is an excellent venue) and we could see the band fine.
When I saw them at the Masonic this year, it was around 6k. When I saw them at Royal Oak, capacity was 1700. At Royal Oak it was intimate and up close. Masonic I was further back but could see them just fine.
6000 is the upper end of venues for me. It would take a lot to make me want to see a show in a stadium or arena.
