Not long after I first started working at a big law firm, I went to see Luna (had seen them half a dozen times at this point) at a local club. Didn't get hammered but certainly had a few drinks, and it was one of those clubs that didn't close until 3am ---- Luna played until about 1am. Went to work the next day, and it was at that point when I realized, "Holy crap, Chinatown be damned....I can't do this on weeknights anymore."

I bought them a round at Maxwells one time & they nodded in thanks. Then I went in for the show and they finished their drinks & walked in a couple of minutes later. :D

I love them for a lot of reasons but they are so good at covers. They seem to do a great one every time they visit KEXP in Seattle.

I did a surprise old number at the market/cafe yesterday. From Elvis, Travlin’ to get to you. There was a bit of grumbling until I said well let’s do Chris Isaak’s Traveling to get to you.
Same words, Same chords, (I love the E A B7 for a good old heavy beat.)
Had to stretch for the highs but it went well. (Disclaimer. I do not look anything like Elvis …. Any more :))

The same show I just mentioned, they ended it with a very extended cover of Walk on the Wild Side, hilarious given the Reed/VU comparisons they get.

And yeah, Dean is a pretty nice dude. When my best friend was living in NYC, he'd see Dean and Britta walking their dogs in Tompkins Square pretty regularly---always very friendly.

I'm sure you've seen it but Tell Me Do You Miss Me is a kickass rock doc. Following them around
on their farewell tour (they came back 10 yrs later) how unglamorous it is on the road for a mid level act and just the annoyances of being in a band. Especially with Dean & Sean's razor wit.

"Look at me. I'm in a bunk bed in Tucson" :ROFLMAO:

After a nice ride over the bridge yesterday I went by the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium where I knew Pulp was playing, figured I'd look for a cheap ticket. Found one on StubHub for less than $14...right at 8. Not sure if this is typical but ticket prices dropped sharply at showtime. It was a big crowd but not sold out. They were good fun, well worth the time and effort.

Review: Jarvis Cocker brings Pulp concert tour back to San Francisco (eastbaytimes.com)

Very, very 70s, while simultaneously being a bit too good for the 70s.

Turns out the guy reinvented himself later on in his life music wise. Goes by the name Seasick Steve and plays blues and rock. Not bad.
