Would be more epic if that happened during the game while this occured in the background followed by this
Play the cannon blast at the same time as the Dale Dynamo video. FO, yes, you . . . make it happen after every goal scored.
Alright, so now that cat's out of the bag, I can say I was on the tour that day with BerlinTexas. It was sponsored by the Houston Bar Association. Doug Hall gave a spiel at Texas BBQ House, and then we went over to the stadium for a mini tour. I went along to see if we'd see anything I hadn't seen yet. Little did I know... We were standing on the Budweiser deck and I noticed El Capitan in the tunnel. No big deal - that's where they usually have it. At the time, I was more focused on the work going on down on the field, mostly top dressing with sand. After we went through a suite, and Hall gave a short talk in the President's Club, we were all (group of approx. 20) going outside onto the terrace. We had just stepped out, and weren't even close enough to the edge to see the cannon in the corner, when the first shot went off. I'm still surprised we didn't have to deploy any defibrillators. (on an aside, coming so soon after Aurora, I'm sure there were probably a few eyebrows raised on the eastern side of downtown. It was that loud). In an instant, I knew what was going on. I may have broken with professional decorum and roared just ever so slightly. They ultimately shot off 4-5 rounds, each varying in intensity. All, however, were nevertheless very intense. I wasn't sure if that would have been the first time it had actually been fired, but looking on youtube there's video of them shooting it in Frisco after victories. However, it looks like they had it outside the grounds, not pointing over the field in the corner. It would be unbelievable if we could fire that bad boy off during games, but they'd have to give folks a lot of warning or those defib units might come out after all.
I am a member of the HBA and I totally missed this. Might be one of the few member benefits I would have utilized.
The internet is an amazing thing. I'm glad this made it on here. I'd love to see this at games. As Nord said, they had the powder amped up pretty high but it's just a matter of getting the charge right. They shoot the cannon off at UT games after ever touchdown and at kickoff so I don't see any reason why we couldn't do it at Dynamo games. I'd love to start that tradition with the Dynamo. How much more important would it make beating FC Dallas if it meant not having the cannon to shoot at every game?
