I'm pro-gay rights, pro-drug legalization, and I think health care, amoung other things, should not be for profit. Yet, because I answered yes to a couple of personal-responsibility-type questions, I'm smack dab in the middle.

For what it's worth, I call myself a Left-Libertarian Internationalist. Which is a label I've pretty much invented. I'm still working out the ideological kinks. ;)

    1. I took it a few times, since there were so few questions, and I scored in this region 2 out of 5 times, and scored in this region first. Eh. Who knows...I'm not a big fan of any of the current "isms" as systems of governance anyway...not a one.

I took it a second time, changed maybe two answers tops, and I'm a moderate socialist.

It's interesting, but pretty limited. What if you're left-leaning on a lot of economic issues but libertarian on social issues? Or you're a free-market conservative but liberal on social issues? And--other than a vaguely worded question on 'security'--nothing on foreign policy.

That's why I think I scored both near Bush and Kerry. It inferred from a liberal, activist social policy to a liberal, activist foreign policy. They assume that liberalism at home translates to it abroad but in today's kind of mixed up systems, we have people who think activist liberal at home but that it should stop at the border.

Wait, which test are you talking about????

I might be a closet conservative, but not a closet republican.

The real problem is that I'm more personally conservative than my politics. To explain; there are things I wouldn't do but that I believe people should be allowed to. I.e., welfare - my parents refused to go on welfare when we were poor, and I wouldn't either. (I don't see college loans the same way.) This test asks how you feel, not how you'd vote.

Personally, I'm progressive, in the old Teddy Roosevelt thought. I like international things. But, at the same time, I have a heavy streak of capitalist thought because I find much of socialism (not ALL!) inefficient. Competition is good - maximizing profit is good too, within reason. I don't mind targeted tax breaks to businesses, but I'm in favor of anti-trust laws (duopolies and such being anticompetitive, really). This test doesn't address that at all.

Some of the questions I wanted to say "Hey, waitaminnit, what about ..." but eventually I made my choices.

You know something? I think Capital Democratism fits me pretty good anyhow. I'm all in favor of free enterprise -- but I hold no illusions that it works better unfettered than harnessed.

If I wasn't so bloody lazy, I'd link back to the "best presidents" thread. :D

But fer real... this test rated me fairly middle of the road. It also didn't have "WTF are you asking me?" as a choice.
