That pretty much hits the nail on the head.

Damned good. I don't think anyone has said it better.

    Sad but true.

Still, I thought after Dallas and the first KC game that we had gotten back on track. We got what we deserved--but we had a shot at getting more.

If (when) Donovan goes, we are looking at a tough year next season. I don't see anyone on the team who looks ready to have a breakout year. I also can't imagine MLS being genrous with an allocation.

Yes. 4th place may look good next year...

Of course, any place would look because the team would still be hear!

Really good perspective. But at the risk of sounding too partisan, Columbus was one of the most consistent teams in MLS history and they're hanging out in sandals too.

The parity in MLS skews our view on our own teams. The only team I could point to that was reliably better than the Quakes was Kansas City, and we had their number. We still set the highwater mark for quality of play this year.

Fair play to Kansas City but we're as deserving as just about anybody to make it to this Final. Think about it: it could be L.A./ New England. It could have been, more credibly, Quakes/Columbus.
