    Dear All,
As many of you probably know by now I wrote an article for ussocceruk.com recently about an interview Grahame Jones did with Don Garber before the opening of the Home Depot Center. In that interview, Garber denied the rumors that many of us have heard about AEG buying the WUSA's assets.

Those of you who read the WUSA.com boards in addition to these have seen the thread that came about because of it. It's gotten pretty long and although it's interesting reading I have been very intrigued by the attitudes of those who, as far as I know, are on BigSoccer as well, and those who are not. By and large, the people who post on both boards seem to be a little bit more realistic about the situation, and understand the complexities of the issue better than those who aren't-- although I admit that I don't know all the people on the WUSA boards as I only recently discovered them. You all might have seen my reply over there that StarCityFan posted on my behalf. I did that because I've tried to register for those boards and they haven't sent me a temporary password yet so I can't post.

But I can post here. And I would like to thank those of you who I've had the pleasure of "meeting" and talking to on these boards for possessing the reason required to understand that we aren't always the biggest game in town, that we've made mistakes, and we've had successes. We all have worked so hard to promote women's soccer in this country and although sometimes we feel that the WUSA doesn't recognize our efforts enough, we haven't given up, nor will we.

And now we have been rewarded for our hard work with a Women's World Cup that will be played on our shores once again, at six of the best soccer venues in the country. The next four months will be some of the most exhilarating of our lives as fans of the beautiful game and we have much to look forward to. We have already seen the buzz that the mere decision to relocate the tournament to the United States created. To say that the excitement in Portland and Philadelphia, two cities who for many years have been begging to make their presence felt on the American soccer state, is palpable would be an understatement. And in the four MLS cities hosting World Cup games, even some of those fans who have looked down upon the WUSA the most are starting to become interest in going to games this fall.

I said it on the WUSA.com boards and I will say it again here. Now is the time for all of us who are soccer fans to come together and do something for the good of the sport in this country. There's not a single soccer entity in this country (except for ChampionsWorld, but they can burn in hell) that will not benefit from the Women's World Cup: MLS, by having domestic TV rights and serving as host broadcaster; the US Soccer Federation, by once again having a major showcase for its national teams; the WUSA, whose best players not only during the World Cup but for the rest of the summer will be on our televisions; and the millions of youth soccer players across the country who will find heroes and dream dreams once again.

So let's get to it. It's as simple a task as telling our friends about what's going on, and if they are interested perhaps they will tell their friends and so on and so forth. If they don't want to hear about women's soccer, then that's okay. There's no harm in trying.

Are we ready for some football?
