Pretty decent video showing the current state of the stadium and the surrounding area: The roar of @AustinFC fans will be heard soon, as the newest Major League Soccer member looks to kick off their season in a brand new stadium in 2021. https://t.co/QDvIiBiaps pic.twitter.com/XXT7sItm96— Austonia (@austonianews) October 30, 2020
At the ten second mark you can see a building to the left of the austin stadium being demolished, thats actually going to be a four lane main entrance road off burnet named "Bright Verde Way", along with a mid rise building planned by Ironwood Real Estate called Soccer Square. Mid rise building in this context is probably 6-10 stories tall. There is also a 19 story office building planned just to the north of that building, which is named Arena Tower and has been planned since the beginning of construction and their lot is currently being used as a construction parking lot for the stadium.
Some good shots of the interior this morning KXAN's Nabil Remadna went to check out the progress on Austin FC's new stadium ... and the natural grass playing surface is down! It's getting closer, soccer fans ⚽ pic.twitter.com/lAc3sCYOHs— KXAN News (@KXAN_News) November 10, 2020

Goodbye CenturyLink https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/11/19/goodbye-centurylink-field-hello-lumen-field/
Which is funny because Qwest (which I liked) was the same company as CenturyLink. This is the 3rd rebranding of the same company sponsorship at the same stadium. Must be some sort of record.
That was all one naming rights deal, the ballpark's name changing only because one company bought up the previous one throughout the years. That was the ballpark's first true naming sponsor change. -G
The opposite was was some ironclad wording in the Buffalo Sabres stadium deal. I believe that saw them play one or two seasons playing in an arena named for a bank that had ceased to exist. It had been bought by a different bank, but the wording in the naming rights contract kept the defunct bank's name on the arena. I think they eventually worked things out (probably came down to who had to pay for the non-inconsequential costs of implementing new signage, stationary, street signs, and so on)
The opposite of the Miami Dolphin's stadium record. Between 1996 and 2016 it was known as: Joe Robbie Stadium Pro Player Park Pro Player Stadium Dolphins Stadium Dolphin Stadium Land Shark Stadium Dolphin Stadium Sun Life Stadium New Miami Stadium Hard Rock Stadium Lots of different deals (or lack thereof) in there.
Young Boys used to play at The Wankdorf Stadium. It's now officially the Stade de Suisse. I guess the KFC Yum Stadium is the worst in the US.
San José Arena later became Compaq Center at San José * for a little over 1 1/2 years before Hewlett Packard (HP) bought Compaq, after which it was renamed HP Pavilion at San José. Once that deal wasn't renewed in 2013, the San Jose Sharks then co-owner (and co-founder of SAP) Hasso Plattner bought out the rest of the team's ownership group and bought the arena's naming rights. It's been SAP Center at San José ever since. -G * The "at San José" was included because at the time, there already was a Compaq Center (previously named The Summit) in Houston, though it's since been renamed to Lakewood Church Central Campus.
Conversely, Avaya filed for bankruptcy protection in January 2017 but was allowed to keep its name on Avaya Stadium until the beginning of this year, after which the stadium was renamed Earthquakes Stadium (though the team has reportedly hired Elevate Sports Ventures to help look for a new stadium naming rights sponsor). -G
