Sad, but I heard tons of bad things about that stadium. It's one of those "seems perfect on TV" places like the Rose Bowl.
The transit problems as well as the cramped concourses have been the biggest complaints. During the summer there's not much shade so you'll need water and umbrellas. They are gonna renovate it though.
What's up with the Red Bulls? They actually sold out a few games this season! Also weird to see a barely bumper crowd vs Portland in Seattle. I guess the fanbase now tops out at 32k when the game is not some kind of final?

since Thomas Mueller arrived 4 home games ago, the Caps have sold almost 24 000 more tickets- at $60/ticket, that comes to... YIKES- $1 400 000 of which the Club gets to keep $700 000 his salary of $670 000 for this year is already paid for and the Lower Bowl at BC Place Stadium is full at 26 000, plus we get the benefit of his amazing RESUME experience and his ambition to WIN and its perfect timing as the Caps Ownership/New Investors are in serious talks with the City to build a SSS at Hastings Park where their demolished former home - Empire Stadium- was
I really love that these stars coming over now are all serious about winning. No more retirement tours.
its a variety of reasons for a per game increase of 6 000: 1. this Team never quits getting positive results, even when 5-6 first Team starters are injured on a continuous basis (we have our top 5 CBs and goal scorer injured right now) 2. its a Team that entertains with goals and defence (2nd in MLS in both categories) 3. Ownership going all-in on the world-reknowned, Thomas Mueller, and he has delivered BIG TIME with just his ambitious presence and game smarts on the field- his addition has brought in over $1.4 million in 4 games (game attendance has gone up over 6 000 fans/game) 4. the increased potential of new investors that will help build a 25 K Soccer Specific Stadium near the DT core at the Hastings Park site - i am expecting good news in the next 3-6 months 5. Vancouver has always been a terrific soccer market- compared to the outlandish Canuck hockey prices, the Whitecaps games are still affordable for families
