Here is a thread to discuss all things about Roma's newest American midfielder. I figure that since a lot of Americans are in this forum, it is better to have a thread devoted solely to him. For non-American Roma fans who are sick of reading about Michael Bradley in other threads, it will allow discussion to be focused here. Here is a recent interview he conducted about switching to Roma: Bradley excited to push barriers at Roma
How do American fans feel about, to the extent that they have heard of him, Zeman? Especially the 4-3-3? When Seattle was getting its MLS club I was living in the Pacific Northwest and someone on BigSoccer asked for some under the radar names for coaches. I suggested Zeman and his 4-3-3 and was roundly chided for even bringing up the 4-3-3. I think it was described as Bush League. Do you think that American fans are going to be able to put those feelings aside now that they'll be watching that formation on a pretty regular basis? Or is the amateur nature of the formation just too much for a refined MLS fan to bear to watch?
I am kind of confused by your question. Most clubs in Europe use some variation of a 4-3-3, (4-5-1, 4-1-2-3, 4-2-3-1). It depends on the player's position on the pitch as well as whether they are more attacking or counter-attacking. It is certainly not a bush league formation.
Yeah sorry. It was more of a barb at those uber-confused Soinders fans from a few years ago. I like Bradley a lot.. Errr... I would if he played for another club.
Anyone watching the Roma/Lubin game? I just got home and it's half time, but can't find game stats anywhere. Also, they just showed the Herbalife commercial with Messi playing basketball. Love it.
That happens to be how most American players play because the youth systems chastize you for individual effort. Defensively he was solid. I'd like to see him play the ball on the ground more, but he is what he is: a defensive midfielder, no matter if he's withdrawn or not. A mid that provides cover is certainly welcome because there will be no shortage of offense with this squad.
I was at the game and can tell you that Bradley was one of the better possession/passers on the team, yesterday. Roma did not look like a very good passing team. I noticed that Bradley made some nice passes, but never received the ball back, after cuts. Maybe he and his teammates just aren't used to each other yet.
I'm sure. I don't think he got to practice with them more than a week, and of course the first game is always going to be a little tricky.
Solid peformance tonight, played well, worked hard off the ball and took his goal very well.Hope to see plenty more of this from Bradley.
I wonder how him and DDR are going to look together. They play so similar it will be interesting. Really good game from him though today. Clogged up lanes, changed up his passes nicely, and had a perfect finish.
Am thinking the presence of Bradley will free up De Rossi to play slightly more advanced at times. In my mind De Rossi and Bradley will work like a pendulum in midfield with one going forward and the other going in attack.
