Dang, whatever happened to that lucrative Liga MX interest?

Does this mean we have another 2 years of him starting for the Nats? He's gonna blow past the caps record easily.

He blows past the caps, the pasted team blows taps. As long as Mikey is happy, General Egg is happy.
We idiots who insist on not forgetting that we once aspired to a USMNT that was something better than a decadent joke? We can go suck an Egg.

    Cringe.

Kaye actually played forward passes, defense, and on one of the best MLS teams, a team that was great in part because of his abilities.

Bradley was drastically overpaid, a below-average player for the first half of the year, and played on a Toronto team that squeaked into the Eastern Conference Playoffs because the East was very top-heavy.

Forgive me if I don't fawn over Bradley's lack of giveaways when he is collecting the ball 5 feet in front of the GK, or between the CB's.

Kaye had 5 more assists in (very) slightly more game time. Even given the superiority of Kaye’s teammates, his passing was more productive.

Oh gosh, this is a nightmare beyond a nightmare.

I was thinking, if he gets a 3-year contract, the fix is in for him to be part of WCQ and WC2022 if we make it and then retire.

3-year contract. Somebody in 2022 will playing in the midfield for a Champions league team and wont be going to the world cup if we make it.

More than any other player in the pool, Bradley needs to be taken out of midfield. He's everything that's wrong with our style and fight these days.

    Slow, lazy, no aggression, Euro-wannabee.

I miss Bradley when he was 20 years old.. This guy is a joke.

agreed on Bradley but primarily because he makes the players around him worse. He is rarely the worst player on the team in the game but that’s not good enough for the centerpiece of our squad (which is the only position he can play at this point), let alone the fact that he makes those around him play terribly.

    slow - definitely
Lazy - nope - he plays hers but within his limitations
No aggression - nope - he is aware of his speed limitations and plays within his limits
Euro-wannabe - nope - he came back from the majors because he was offered stupid money (while he was struggling a bit to retain his form IIRC). It would have been a dis-service to his family to turn down the contract - it was multiples above what he was worth.

[1] It is not usually that the players around him play worse, never mind "terribly", but that they are forced to cover for him as well as play their own role. To play a whole match where the "central piece" is a moribund statue is to be faced with a situation worse than playing down a man. If you have only 10, but every one is active and can be trusted to reasonably fulfill their role, it is a much more straightforward proposition than when you have "respect" the position and role of a player you cannot trust in any way to reasonably fulfill their role. Mikey is a detriment to the side.
[2] As a center piece to the team, he is far too often among the two or three worst players..And he is the worst, in terms of what he costs the side and how he disturbs the play of others, far too frequently/
[3] Sure. Understatement of the Millenium, but, yeah, sure.
    [4] Yup
[5] When a man's limitations are so severe that to "play within his limits" is to be impossible to differentiate from severe laziness, well then, that man has passed the limit of his utility for the team...... Although I point out that in the playoffs, when victory would have meant a huge payday for MIkey, he seemed to find a way to surpass "the limits" of how he has played for the USMNT. He seemed to be genuinely trying hard, to care, to make an effort. And it looked nothing like how his gentle strolls look like for us. But,. hey, Mikey ain't lazy. He's just a master of minimal expenditure of his precious bodily essences.
[6] Again, compare his efforts for Toronto in the playoffs, with visions of 5.6 million dancing in his head, versus his efforts for us. The difference is wondrous.
[7] Agreed. Mikey has every right to go for those who show him the money. He did right by his family, even if it has been a long long time since he has remotely done right by the national side.........
.......So there is a simple and just and honorable solution, Mikey. You play for those who show you the money, namely Toronto, and stop pathetically pretending to play for a national side which clearly does not show you enough treasure to spark your genuine caring.

Surgery puts him out until June.

    https://www.espn.com/soccer/toronto...toronto-fc-mishandled-michael-bradleys-injury

I think that’s it for him and the USMNT: he’s now old and injury prone. We’ve put out to pasture current major league players with this profile and I think it’s pretty clear that Bradley doesn’t have the ability to play in the majors.

Great career and hopefully over time, he’ll be remembered for the totality of his career and not just the end. He deserves that.

I wonder if its the same ankle he did before that WC Qualie in Costa Rica in 2013? He was never the same player after that.
