the mfl will have its first all star game in monterrey. It will be mexicans vs foreigners (as in foreigners playing in mexico) Idon't know who is going to pick the players i havent heard anything about voting by the fans.

This game will be interesting to watch knowing how mexicans are so xenophobic about foreigners in their league. I can't wait to see the reaction of the mexican commentators when they foreign all stars start beating the crap out of mexico.

the foreigner team will probably have Cardozzo and chama gol, and the rest of the team will probably be argentinian.

    foreigners 6 - mexico 0

Its not the first all-star game that Mexican league has had before. The Primera "a" (second division) has had them for quite some time now. It has never been played consistantly year in and year out.. but they have been played. In fact, an American made the allstar team for the foreigners a couple years back. This will be the first time the first division has an allstar game

bimbo products will have these ballots and you will be able to choose. They will also have an online voting page.

Caniza, Rojas, and Vazquez? with that defense, you can have the sub 20 players and they will still win. Do you expect to have Cardozo, Abreu, Chamagol, and Navia on the field at the same time???

THe foreigners will have a better front line, but the midfield and defenders will not be able to hold thier lines. It will be a lonely night for the fowards if the back line and midfield cant hold their lines.

the foreigner team will probably have Cardozzo and chama gol, and the rest of the team will probably be argentinian.

    CHitiva & Calero - Colombian
Rojas, Navia, Ruiz & Chamagol - Chilean
    Cardozo & Caniza - Paraguayan
    Abreu & Sanchez - Uruguayan
    Erviti, Franco, Gaitan - Argentines

Even if this is an All-Star game, I wonder if there'll be any cheap shots?

i believe the one that was played in 95-96 was a charity match and not so much an all-star game

They should just merge this game with the MLS all star game. I would love to see an MLS all-star team play a mfl all-star team, as i think others would. Plus it would be very competitive with braging rights on the line.

This would be great fun to watch. I hope somebody is paying attention to this idea. Now that would be an All-Star game that I could get in to...especially at the HDNTC.

That game was later and it endend 1-1. It was a benefit for the people in Chiapas after some floods, I think it was organized by Pelaez. I think he scored for the Mexicans. Jafet Soto was the foreign scorer.

are you sure you are not talking about the Garcia Aspe farewell game where all the proceeds went to flood victims.

In 99, there was a flood in veracruz and the gulf coast states and they had some charity games... but no allstar game.

The first division has never had an official All-Star game.

I am a little skeptic about having one. I would rather clear that date and let the national team play a match.

We need to to away with the pre pre libertaodres games and start having the Cup championship again in Mexico. Those were fun, intense games.

No it wasn't Aspe farewell game. It wasn't an official all star game but a Mexicanos vs Extranjeros game for benfit of the Chiapanecos. It endend 1-1 and I think it was in 99 0r 2000.

I dont think it is feasable. THe MLS Cup is usually played at the begining of the MFL season or in thier preseason.

Pelaez retired in early 2000 with Chivas. HE saw very little time. He wasnt much of a player in 99-00. Injuries and stuff.

The floods in 1999 were on the gulf coastal states...Tamaulipas and Veracruz mostly. The reason I know is because i was in Poza Rica in July of 99 with friends. the rains came so instead we headed inland. On some highlands..we decided we were going to take the mountains... big mistake... beause a day earlier..a land slide took out one of the lanes... so we were in traffic for about 4 hours in that location.

but lets not confuse a charity game with an all star game. after all, every one scores in a charity match.

so the US has never won an important international match on non-us soil, eh?

We can say we gave Mexico a departing flight from Korea, though.

Then it was 98 or 99. It was because of floods in Chiapas. And Pedro Pineda played for the Mexicans or was called. If I remember correctly Pelaez lasts caps were in the US cup in 99 and I think the charity match was before that. And it wasn't an All-Star game although it was the same format than the one they want to use now.

I'd appreciate it if you guys came back and gave us your impressions after the match.

The MLS all-star game is great fun, EXCEPT that the '98 one kinda sucked. That was foreign vs. domestic, as a kind of stupid World Cup '98 revenge game.

East vs. West (or some other geographic distinction) would make the game better. Let it be what it is, a fun exhibition.
