In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Edmund Fitzgerald sinking, here is a map of the route it was taking and where it sunk. Courtesy of the Duluth News Tribune.
I read that the ship was only 75 feet wide, so that it would fit through the Soo locks, and that made it less stable. The Soo locks seem pretty interesting. https://saultstemarie.com/attractions/soo-locks/
America is winning, so it should be in American terms. Liters? What kind of commie-socialist crap is that?
I’m surprised it didn’t run aground on that island southwest of Michigan it looks to have slammed into.
She also was 729 feet long and rests 530 feet on the bottom of Lake Superior, so depending on how she sank, her bow could've hit the bottom with her stern still above the surface.
I see a problem with this map. It does not really show the relative size of the Empires as it makes all regions equal. As an example, the Mongol Empire was vast, yet that map makes it look smaller than the Roman or Ottoman Empires because it was only in parts of Asia, and not in 3 areas. It also lumps European Imperialism into a single empire, yet separates (and does not include) the various African Empires between ~1000 CE and ~ 1700 CE. Also, in Africa, what is "New," "Mid," and "Old?"
Ancient Egypt's history is divided into different Kingdoms and Periods. They are as follows: Old Kingdom (the time of the sphinx and great pyramids) 1st Intermediate Period Middle Kingdom 2nd Intermediate Period New Kingdom (the time of King Tut, Ramesses, etc) 3rd Intermediate Period Late Period Ptolemaic Period (Cleopatra)
To say nothing of the fact that they are operating from very different definitions of empire. Indonesia is currently an empire? India? Also, they fail to list the Caliphates as occupying Europe, but the Umayyads held Spain and Portugal (and a little slice of France) for over 300 years.
Nah, my knowledge is much too limited to very specific topics. I kill it in The 1% Club though (100% Logique in France).
I was wondering if scrapers were going to capture this data before Musk quickly shut it down. Special FU to North Africa, Middle East and SE Asian MAGA trolls. I'm surprised that Russia isn't more red.
It would be nice to see this verified somehow, given we have to take the word of "Right Wing Cope", whoever that is.
Even if this map is true, what Russia lacks in absolute numbers, they still are home to the loudest and most influential voices.
