Also, the Silicon Prairie is a thing, but it has too many definitions to make sense. Hudl, which is easily the most popular source for high school athlete game and practice footage, is a Lincoln, NE based company.
A very good friend of mine worked for Hudl for over a decade. Good employer; he left recently to take on a new challenge. Just had lunch with him and his wife when I was in Lincoln in August.
University of Michigan: "That's cute." 3rd largest stadium in the world and open since 1927 where it's original capacity was 72,000 Had some fun when my friend lived down the street from there.
Lot of nature stuff. Rock climbing, hiking, fishing, skiing, hunting, camping, kayaking, rafting, whatever outdoorsy thing you can think of. Been to Wyoming for rock climbing, would go back in a heartbeat. Probably my favorite spot and I've been all over the US and two countries.
Vedauwoo by any chance? It's a great place for bouldering. I've been there many times, given how close it is to Laramie.
Nope. Ten Sleep. A buddy's girlfriend suggested it to me. I know Vedauwoo for offwidth climbing but I'm not a trad climber and haven't been since 2019. Wild Iris is on the list as well.
Wild Iris is on the bucket list. As are Vedauwoo and Ten Sleep. Edited to add: I got my ass thrashed on Devils Tower many years ago - nearly filled my pants - and it's one of my favorite climbing memories of all time.
I love Ten Sleep more than the Red River Gorge. Much more relaxed. Got to Mexico few years back for climbing and had quite an adventure.
I've been there, had a great time. We used it as a rendezvous point for people coming from different directions on trips to Fitzpatrick and Cloud Peak Wildernesses.
That map essentially highlighted the places I like. There are other sporting events too - rodeo, for instance. A few guys I used to run with are super into gravel cycling and love the endless possibilities.
I would love to go mountain biking out there at one point. Eastern side of the US, plenty of spots but they're in the South and they get warm as hell during the summer. Chattanooga is a great small city with plenty of outdoorsy options.
I lived in Asheville for several years and did a lot of mountain biking back then. I rarely do now as it got less fun as my bones got less flexible when I ran into the ground. Indiana, especially Brown County, has surprisingly good mountain biking.
Believe it or not, Michigan does too. I grew up near a state park flying down trails and such. There's a series of parks in the Detroit area called Metroparks, one of them has a huge mountain biking trail system that's great for a day or so.
The lowest rate of adult depression must be what put you on the leaderboard. What’s up with that? Did all those scenes of Tony Soprano talking to his shrink lead to widespread acceptance of therapy or something?
Tony was a bigpussy. Real Jersey Men drown their sorrows in gabagool, mozz, Taylor ham, egg & cheeses and flipping people off. But furrealz - the amount of easy-to-find good food keeps us fat & happy I'm guessing. Definitely ain't the cost of living and traffic
