NIU definetly played Akron tough last night. They are a very physical team. Makes me nervous for Hartwick and even more nervous for the MAC tourney. I'd hate to lose that home field advantage.

Akron will be a seeded NCAA team, whether they win the MAC tourney or not.

    Exactly.

At this point Akron is practically guaranteed a top 8 seed so the only possible road game they'd have would be in the QFs and quite frankly, it would likely take more than two losses to drop them from a top 4 seed, meaning even the QF will be at home.

I mean, they entered the week No. 2 in the RPI and No. 1 lost last night so Akron is presumably No. 1 right now. It would likely take more than two losses to get them to No. 5.

I don't think Akron fans need to worry about road trips in the NCAAs except for going to Cary.

One year too late, but UA now has an on-campus alternative to unscrupulous NCAA committee members.

So there will be no games played on a small multi-purpose high school field with no concessions and one port-a-john. (unless LeBron shows up to the game)

Akron escapes Buffalo with a 1-0 win. Goal in the 14th minute by Bunbury. Akron out shot Buffalo 17-3 yet were only able to put up the one goal. Like I said, I think Akron can be beat and I still think they will be.......Hartwick ?

You know it's funny, no matter how good, or how bad, a team is, when it comes to conference games, all bets are off, no matter what conference it is.

I agree, these teams get to see each other enough to get to know each other pretty good. I saw Buffalo play at NIU and they did some good stuff, but just can't get it together as a group. Buffalo is a big side, some tall youngins.

Akron has a tendency to dick around for most of the game even though they dominate possession and chances. They've been doing this since before Lolla left. I think the difference this year is that they can score at any time as opposed to waiting until the last possible second, or not at all.

Lolla's teams versus this team isn't even in the same discussion.

I was just discussing the propensity of Akron to squeak by sometimes, despite dominating any given game. Whereas before, they were frustrating as sin and waited until the end, now at least they are pretty much always good for at least a goal, and usually early, even on a bad night.

Even as good as they are they won't be able to get away with that in the NCAA's. The competition is at a whole different level. If they want to go the distance they are going to have to put teams away and get on with it. They still have two tough matches left in the MAC versus Hartwick and possibly NIU in the confernece tourney. As OG said the conference games are always tougher than the rest. If I was them I would be concerned about Hartwick and possibly NIU. Not that it matters as far as making the playoffs goes....but they surely want to continue to finish strong in every match. Squeaking by just isn't enough at this time of the year.

you have to realize this, in the NCAA tourney your not going to have teams but 9 in the box allllllll game like buffalo and niu did just to play for tie. Teams are going to want to try to score and win, and well thats not a wise idea against the Zips (ask Michigan.) There still dominating games including at one point in the buffalo game had the ball for 7 straight minutes without giving it up, (pretty much had the ball 83 of the 90 last night and im not kidding either it was that dominant.) Also remember this, in the NCAA tourney you if you win by 5 its the same thing as winning by 1, just do what you have to do to get it done. Finally they will be ready to go for Hartwick in 2 weeks, they will have to much on the line, a perfect regular season (hopefully), the MAC regular season title, home field advantage throughout everything trust me the Zips will be ready to go for this one. Plus the Zips do not lose at home, facts are facts it just doesn't happen. Go Zips bring on PSU on Wednesday.

I think they call that soccer. There are going to be 1-0 results no matter the difference in quality of teams.

I certainly hope so. Wouldn't want it any other way. BOTH sides will have much on the line, the Wick even more so than Akron, as this is almost a tourney game for them. Should be a good one.

But I think we can both agree, at least with the case of Buffalo, that their field is an embarrassment, and not exactly a soccer friendly situation.

Never liked games at Buffalo, a football stadium all the way....no business playing soccer there. There are an awful lot of lines and different colors to keep you guessing.

While Akron will be heavily favored hosting PSU, I think this may be the game that Akron might lose. I'll admit that Akron has the better talent, but the physical style of play by PSU could disrupt Akron's style.

I'll put it out there - PSU beats Akron 1-0 (now, that I've said it) - Akron 4-1 is just as likely!
