And it wasn't even that close. Ohio State barely sniffed the goal and strung more than 2 passes together MAYBE enough times to count on both hands. Maybe.
Set a record for attendance tonight with 2500 fans. OSU was out played in every area of the game and not by just a little. Akron was in control from the opening whistle.
Gametracker doesn't seem to have the feed for the Akron vs FAU match ? Someone there must be forgetting to hit the button.
Wow, it looks like Hartwick is the real deal this year. Were you at the game? It looks like NIU won't be the only team competing with Akron this year. And here's the bigger question: Will the MAC see two tournament births this season? (EXCLUDING the possibility that Akron loses in the tourney--that's too obvious).
And look at the NCAA Div I team defense--Akron and Hartwick are Nos. 1 and 2, respectively. It's going to be "cold" in Akron on November 7!
Latest NCAA Div 1 team stats: Team Scoring: Akron #1 (tied with Winthrop at 2.89 GPG) Team Defense: Akron #1 (0.11 GPG) Team WLT Record: Akron #1 (1.00) Team Shutouts: Akron #1 (0.89) Save Percentage: Akron #2 (0.923) Has this ever happened before??
FINAL SCORE:N'westrn OVER NIU 1-0, goal by Eliason...his 9th, assist by Blades. Michigan State beats Western Michigan 2-0
NIU over Buffalo 1-0 on a Buffalo own goal. Buffalo gets two red cards in the match. NIU and Buffalo matches have always been a bit on the testy side, something less than civil.
NIU travels to Akron on Saturday for what will likely be one of the determining factors in who will win the MAC. I guess the edge definitely has to go to Akron on this one, but don't count the Huskies out. Last years MAC championship match went to double OT. The NIU vs Akron matches are usually a war. Akron is a tough place to play on, their fans are pretty intense. It should be interesting. Either a blow out or a close tight match, we'll see.
Expect a good number of Akron students at this one. The last I heard it might snow that night. It should be fun!
Some snow, just like the MAC game last year........ be great. Actually would like to se a good clean match on a dry field. Its hard to get a good surface this time of the year in the midwest.
Careful what you wish for. Last time the game was played on a good dry field, Akron won 4-0 over NIU.
