Yea Yesil is gone. Not as bad as someone else like Said Benkarit, but 3.Liga looks around his level. Which before he joined that Greek club, apparently he was rejected after a trial with Hansa Rostock.

Meanwhile Lennart Thy has been unable to score in the Turkish league so far. He was somewhat decent last season in Eredivisie and previously 2BL. But looks like he's reached the end of his capability.

your post reminds of how so many ex German youth Internationals end up as has beens players.

sometimes I feel like players who either barely played for Germany youth NT or only 1 tournament do better than the ones who play a lot.

completely forget about Thy, that's another play who's career is also unimpressive. I think Germany has a big problem when it comes to producing strikers that 1)Pan Out 2) aren't injury prone. I do think 98-onwards has a lot of promise but they are just prospects.

Beginning with Manuel Fischer and Alexander Neumann, it appeared that for a while there was a curse of being the early achiever. With careers going downhill due to burning out with limitations, injuries, or a mixture of both. Sukuta-Pasu, Esswein, Mlapa, Thy, Hofmann, Yesil, etc then followed afterwards.

Schieber emerged later on and only began playing for the U21 NT, but injuries destroyed him.

damn, both Fischer and Neumann are currently 29 year old players who are in RL.......and Fischer hasn't played 1 game this season....

Fischer and Thy also won U17 Euro top scorers. Just shows how much U17 NT is the level that matters the littlest when it comes to pro careers. Kinda why I'm iffy about how players do in U17 German league, U19 is a better indicator.

but seriously what you posted in the youth thread is very true about how our players get injured/destroyed very easily. OBM for example comes back from an ankle injury missing 2 matches only to get injured again in the ankle and needing surgery and now is out for like half a year. I mean, really? 2 injuries in a span of a month and looks like he might have been rushed too. While Platte comes back only get injured again in training and came back today but won't play anywhere near full games until next year. F.Muller a GK seems to have tons of injury issues this season, Kuntz tried over and over to nominate him but everytime he gets injured again, hasn't played for awhile.....

Lennart Thy should have stayed in the Eredivisie where he did reasonably well even on a smaller team and was well liked for his actions on and off the pitch.

But I remember he openly said he didn't want to stay there which ended up being a foolish decision. He can't even score in the Turkish league now.

Well at least he'll always have that FIFA Fair play award to be remembered for.

Paul Besong in the Dortmund youth system is another one who's always injured and looks like won't be making it.

Tobias Warschewski's situation at Preussen Münster also looks concerning.

Lennart Thy finally scored his first goal in the Turkish league. Took him forever though. If he continues to be inefficient then I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut by his club and returns to the 2BL.

While Samed Yesil can't even buy himself a spot on the 3BL bench

Melvin Krol who was once a promising prospect within HSV's youth system is now clubless. All signs indicate that his career is likely done.

also does Philipp Hofmann deserve to be on this thread. He's failed but was he ever a talent to begin with?

Gaudino, Scholl, and Kurt are all they really talents?

Guess it's debatable for any player really. But Kurt and Gaudino seemed to have fairly high expectations a few years ago when they first came up.

Hofmann was actually a decent 2BL performer when Schalke loaned him out a couple times. And his scoring rate for the youth NT was solid. But didn't progress that well after the full move to Kaiserslautern. Going to the English second division then ruined him.

I think Gaudino and Kurt were both ruined by Bayern.

Kurt also had some injury issues and also started to develop unprofessionalism issues and believe at some point started to gain weight too when at Hertha. Seems like everything crashed after he left Gladbach.

not that I rate them but looking back at U17 Fritz Walter medals for 97 group
97 Gold Gimber, who seems to not have impressed in 2BL
97 Silver Bektic played nothing but RL
97 Bronze Konigsmann seems to be on special leave and played 0 matches this season

in all honesty one can find tons of not successful Fritz Walter medal players especially in the 1st 10 years of the awards.

Speaking of Königsmann, the GK position is becoming increasingly difficult for players to breakthrough.

Raif Husic who was a youth NT player from U15-19 hasn't progressed and is not even able to get playing time in 3.Liga

Further back, Patrick Rakovsky who was once a Fritz Walter bronze winner and with the youth NT from U15-20 is now clubless

It's difficult because there are no GK substitution and more and more clubs want experience vs giving chances. They also can play well into their mid-30s. Chances seem to mostly come from injuries. poor form, some rotations or if you #1 transfers. Pretty much it.

on top of that, clubs do looks at non Germans too. So that just makes it even more tough to breakthrough when there is so much competition for the hardest spot to breakthrough from XI.

Rakovsky has been clubless 3 times in his career, that's not great and even worse his next career stop is Lahti in the Finnish league...Such a crash and burn for someone who's actually managed to play 1BL and 2BL. Looks he like he never settled anywhere.

Looking back in the not too distant past, Pascal Itter was a RB that had high expectations several years ago. A regular youth NT member from U16-U19 age groups for the 95's. Also a Fritz Walter Medal U17 bronze winner in 2012 behind Goretzka and Meyer.

However he never made the jump at Schalke. Didn't find a transition in Austria or Paderborn after either. And now he's in the RL.

yeah he's amounted to nothing soon to be Beyreuther's new teammate.

Itter never even made it past 3rd Liga, soon to be 24 and playing in RL, yikes.

Marin did go to the 2010 WC.

Low chose Marin over Reus, both of them are 89s too.
