Scored the 2nd goal in a 0-2 win over Antwerp. He also picked up a yellow card and was named man of the match.
Actually a nice article about Reynolds and his teammate Allahyar Sayyadmanesh. He does comment on his NT future with this - when asked about the World Cup he said - "I haven't played for the national team in about two and a half years," he says. "So I don't know how they're doing, but I'm sure they'll be ready."
Westerlo really let him down when they declined to release him for the Olympics. Marko wanted both Yow and Reynolds for the Olympic team. Westerlo was only willing to release one of them, not both. Yow was playing better at the time, so Marko got Yow. Looking back on it, that was low rent from a small club like Westerlo to hold him back. They gained nothing from keeping him (he only would have missed the opening 2 games of the season). If Reynolds was on the Olympic team, it would have helped keep him in the USMNT picture (like Harriell). That said, he's not better than Dest, Freeman, Scally, or even Westfield (who had a great U-20 WC and is the early frontrunner to start at RB for the next Olympic team).
Played the entire match in a 0-0 draw. They will play in the Playoff 2. There is a possible Conference League spot for the winner of this playoff.
Reynolds played 90 min in a 1-2 away win at Standard. This provisionally put them in 1st place in the Playoff group.
Reynolds played all match in a 1-2 home loss to Genk. This allowed Genk to move to the top of the group in the Conference League Playoff.
Reynolds played a very strong match in a 1-2 win over OHL to move back into a tie with Genk for 1st place in the Conference League playoffs.
Reynolds played the entire match in a 3-3 draw with OHL. He had a 7.8 ranking, 2nd highest on the team and had an assist. Westerlo moved to a 3-4-3 a few weeks ago and this has pushed him into a more attacking role. Tied with Standard and Genk in the playoffs.
I just went on a dive into the Belgian playoffs in an effort to figure out how many more games there are in the season. They've played 36, and there are 4 more. I also learned (via a video that gave a great explanation of the Belgian playoffs) that this is the last season of the playoff system. The league will switch to a "normal" double round robin format next season, expanding the league to 18 teams as well. The video is below for all to enjoy!
One slight correction, if Westerlo for Reynolds, or Standard in the case of Fossey win the playoffs they are currently in, they will play one more time against a team from the Championship Playoffs to see who gets the last playoff spot. So they are still playing to compete in Europe next season. There has been lots of consternation about the change in the Belgian League structure. There is still some discussion about the structure for next season. It is possible that the playoffs remain, but it is also possible that they go away. Too many reasons to explain here, but it is interesting for sure.
Not a great game for Reynolds nor Westerlo as they lost to Genk 3-0. Reynolds picked up a yellow card.
Played the full match and had the only assist in a 0-1 win over Charleroi. He also picked up a yellow card. This puts Westerlo only one point behind Genk and Standard.
Reynolds get the start today vs Standard. Very important match for both teams. Match is 1-1 in the 19th.
Standard Liege won 2-1. Reynolds got a 7.1 from fotmob, good enough for 4th best on his team in the losing effort.
Have to say I'm kind of disappointed with his career but going back to FCD days and hearing he was a bigger prospect than Pomykal always puzzled me. Of course it's the size and athleticism but that's not all that make up players and Reynolds, so far, hasn't taken the next step to become what freeman has. I still believe had Pomykal stayed healthy he would have been an important piece for a mid level Bundesliga team. I'm not sure Reynolds will ever start for a top 4 league team (maybe now that his old coach is at real Madrid he'll want him again ).
Not that I am going to disagree with you, but I think Reynolds is best playing a wingback type of position that allows him to be much more involved in the attack then as a stay at home defender. Westerlo uses his much more in the 2nd role. I think that when he was with the U23s, it was in a more defensive first situation. He is 24, has one more season on his current contract. He will have 155 matches in Belgium at the end of this season. That is not a bad career to this point. Do I think he is on the move this summer, yes.
No matter what, this will be Westerlo's last match of the season. Reynolds get the start for the match at Antwerp.
