Westerlo v Cercle Brugge 28 Jul 13:15 EST Not on ESPN + Reynolds should get the start. This is a pretty important year for the development of Reynolds. He had a great season in 2022-2023 which earned him the permanent contract with Westerlo. Last season was a disappointment for both the club and Reynolds. Both the club and he need a comeback season. Cercle played to a 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock on Thursday and the return leg is next week. There is a good chance that some of the normal starters will ne rotated for Brugge.

Yes. There has been discussion after the first week that the many 0-0 scorelines were due to the early start, and many players still working back into fitness. I think it was over 40 days from the first match to the end of the transfer window. One issue is the Belgium league takes a three of four week break in the middle of the season. That plus the playoff necessitate an early start.
The Belgian league would be stronger if it got rid of the playoffs and followed a European schedule. (/s)
Especially when there are 16 teams in the top division, just 2 short of the average. Either reduce the top division to 14 teams if you insist on the playoffs, or have 4 promotion and 2 relegation slots in the 2025-26 season
There was lots of discussion during the summer about this. Four different proposals were given. The winner was to keep it the same.
Mechelen v Westerlo 3 Aug 10:00 EST Not on ESPN + Reynolds should start again as Westerlo tries to make it 6 points and stay top of the early season table. They were aided by playing a tired Cercle squad last week, but they were the only team to score more than one goal. This is a winnable match.

would’ve been a downgrade— Michael (@usmnteaglegun) August 8, 2024 Interesting. I wonder if it could be revived. HSV have tried and failed to gain promotion after their historic drop to 2BL. They just can’t quite get over that humo finishing 4th four times and 3rd twice with two promotion playoff loses. I think it could have been a good move. They seem to really be going for this season with some key signings.
Westerlo vs Union St. Gilloise 10 Aug 12:15 EST Not on ESPN + This match should be really interesting. Normally a point off Union would be good for Westerlo, but they are playing well right now. Union lost 3-1 in Prague on Wednesday. They have their "home" leg next Tuesday so I would not be surprised in Union rested some starters. On top of that, an unnamed MLS club has bid for one of their best players. The bid of 12 million was rejected, but negotiations are ongoing. If that is the case, Cameron Puertas might sit out the match due to the impending transfer [my bet the Chicago Fire]. Reynolds should start as normal.
Plays the entire match in a 4-3 win. Reynolds scored the 4th goal, at that time to make it 4-1. It became a very important goal.
#WESUSG | Sébastien Pocognoli vergat even dat hij geen speler meer was. 😅🟥 pic.twitter.com/UWEKPDfkkw— DAZN België (@DAZN_BENL) August 10, 2024 Funniest moment of the match. Union's coach steps/almost steps onto the field to stop an attack. He did get a red card for his troubles.
Gent vs Westerlo 18 Aug 13:15 EST Not on ESPN + Reynolds' goal proved the match winner last week. The offensive is moving really well. Gent had a very tough match on Thursday in Europe. Westerlo should be able to get at least a point in this one.
Tuned in briefly during lunch to watch Union vs Charleroi on ESPN+ and the commentators mentioned twice that Anderlecht were very interested in Reynolds.
Interesting. Anderlecht has had a very odd start to the season. Through three matches, they have seven points, so one would think that they should be fine. But there are lots people frustrated by many things at the club. They have tried multiple transfers this summer, but have not really hit on any. Do not let the club names fool you. So the Anderlecht manager and management have come under fire for going to the Danish well too often. Both are Danish. Last year was much better than the previous season though. If Reynolds is moving to Anderlecht, Westerlo will get for them some nice money. Anderlecht might use him a little higher when his defensive "issues" are not so apparent.
