A good thing for Reynolds is that Mou really likes tall players to play his plodding style. If Bryan can lock down defensively and show he's an asset winning headers against smaller wingers, this could be good.

I remember a few things about Chelsea's defense in 2014 when they won the title:
    1. Mou played pretty much the same team every game even with a very talented academy and good bench players, which is probably bad for Bryan
    2. Mou used Azpilicueta at left back and Ivanovic at right back nearly every game, both of which are probably good things (1 being a right foot dominant player playing right back due to defensive security, and the other being a center back playing right back due to his size and ball-striking ability)

This could be a good thing for Bryan, but I have no idea how he compares to Roma's other full backs because I don't know who they are.

I didn't see the game, but from these clips it doesn't look like he attempted to dribble down the line at all. Every time he got the ball he just looked for a pass inside on his right.

I do wish Roma would do a better job of listing the subs.

They said 5 Roman months. It’s like the metric system or something.

Roma's Serie A season finale away to Spezia starts at 2:45 pm eastern on ESPN+.

    Game day thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/bryan-reynolds-all-games-pbp-20-21.2114094/#post-39365664

AS Roma are in competition for seventh and a Europa Conference League play-off round spot.

    Standings coming into today's game:

    7. AS Roma 61 pts +10 GD
    8. Sassuolo 59 pts +6 GD vs. Lazio

Serie A uses head-to-head points and head-to-head goal difference as their first two tiebreakers. However, since AS Roma and Sassuolo tied their two meetings the tie breaker would go to overall goal difference.

5 matches in 3.5 months of joining, I'd say well done! Hopefully he'll be in three/four times that amount next season.

Honestly, he wasn't ready to contribute at Serie A level.

I really hope he's not sent on loan. He needs his chance to contend for the starting spot and should have plenty of opportunities.

But he really didn’t show that he was ready. Maybe they think he’s about to take that step, but I’m not so sure.

On the one hand, Ramos and Reynolds obviously aren't competing with each other for playing time, so it doesn't matter. OTOH, Ramos is old and this move is an indication that Mourinho is eager to sign an old guy, which isn't good news for Reynolds' prospects for playing time over the next 2 years. (Mourinho will be fired by Year Three for sure.)

But Ramos only plays as a centerback so it can't harm him too much. Also taking into account Ramos is nearly 35 and moving to a new league so it's not so dentrimental.

What I’ve known about Mourinho, correct me if I’m wrong, he’s a “I play my best XI, I don’t alternate, I certainly don’t develop youth, and I know what’s best” type. Maybe I’m wrong. But I wouldn’t want to be a raw 19 year old right back under Mourinho. I would ask for a loan.

Let me reiterate my argument. Ramos won't take a minute of playing time from Reynolds directly. However, as a sign of how Jose is going to build his squad, it's bad news.

Who TF wouldn't want a proven winner and a player who's played at the highest level for YEARS? Even if he's not as good as he once was, he'll bump everyone's play and be a huge presence, much like Tiago Silva was at Chelsea last season. Reynolds is gonna have to prove himself regardless of who does/doesn't come but it would be amazing to learn from Ramos.

Agree 100%. Sort of a sad trade off that his preseason will be bench instead of advertising during the gold cup.

The good news is, that you never know how long Jose can keep his job. The bad news is that you never know how long Jose can keep his job.

Instead of “the special one”, they should call him “bottle rocket” because he normally is great at doing well right off the bat then fizzles out quick.
