Well, I think we can all agree that Nuno Valente shouldn't get to play there anymore, so we should start looking at the possible alternatives.

    My shortlist of players:
    Miguelito(Nacional)
Laranjeiro(Leiria/has been playing left a few games)
Tininho(Beira-Mar/second division but all the same he's among one of the best in Portugal)

    And then makeshifty alternates:
Play Nelson right, Ferreira on the left
    Caneira on the left

Ribeiro can go in as other, I don't see him as a fit to our team given how Ferreira and the other optional RBs play...

Miguelito for me. He would have already been called by Scolari if he was at one of the big 3.

I don't mind Jorge Ribeiro either but I don't rate him as highly and it will depend on where he goes, since he's not in the plans of the Dynamo coach.

I know some poeple are going to mention Cesar Peixoto. I like the player and think he adds some punch to the offense but he's a penalty shot waiting to happen. Almost every game he makes a bad foul that is either missed or ignored by the ref. Untill he learns the position, he's still very risky.

Ferreira and Caneira can play there as well but I prefer a true left-back there.

    I went for Caneira.

It was between him and Miguelito for me, and I think Caneira has a bit more discipline, and he tends to stay up longer than Miguelito.

Certainly he played great at left when he was called to play there for us in the qualifying campaign.

    My vote went for Caneira.

He has something all top three in the list didn't, experience at the international stage.

I chose other, I thought we could make Nelson play the left wing and let Miguel and Ferriera battle it out for the right wing spot?

    Nelson - Andrade - Carvalho - Miguel

    Look at that speed

P.S: Aside from that I like Caneira

Miguel's not that great this season, and I don't know about putting Nelson on the left...

I have only seen Miguel play a couple of time. He scored an amazing goal right when he was transfered to Valencia. But I think he loves playing for the Shirt, he gives it everything he has. I dont know about Nelson at the left either, but he can cross with both his feet....

If I'm not mistaken, Scolari will call on Nuno Valente

Hes so bad this season though, and he posses no threat on offense, but I guess the team needs balance.

no matter what people say caneira is the best leftback we have maybe better then ferreira.

    miguelito,peixoto,tininho,ribeiro are still underclass.

Caneira is a natural CB, not a defensive winger. Paulo Ferreira's natural position is RB, not LB...

Here's another reason I like Miguelito: He can easily move into the winger spot with Ronaldo becoming the support striker if we need a goal.

he should be on the team he can play winger to.

he just seems like an explosive player that could make an impact.

Why is not CESAR PEIXOTO on the list.?????????????

for the LB position has to be Peixoto or Miguelito their the 2 best portuguese LB players at the moment.

    miguel/nelson ......... carvalho.............Andrade.........Peixoto/miguelito.

I think Nuno Valente will be our left defender...but anyway i would like to see Miguelito playing some games, probably that won´t happen because he wasn´t even called to the olympic games...don´t ask me why maybe is what Scolari calls " situações relativas ao balneário..."
Another good solution is to put Paulo Ferreira at left defender and Miguel as our right defender.

    From the poll:
    Makeshift Solution: Paulo Ferreira (Chelsea)
    Makeshit Solution: Caneira (Valencia)

Aveirenses, was this a typo or a prediction? :D :p
