&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, based on the comic book series of the same name by Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill, is due in theaters this summer. :)

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp Any thoughts about this movie?

I heard Sean Connery wasn't the easiest guy to work with... I'm not sold on this movie quite yet. I'll have to watch the trailer a few more times.

Same here... I read the first story arch and it really didn't do much for me. The movie looks the same way. The fx look nice, but the movie doesn't look like it'll be the greatest.

Well I loved the first mini-series, but the movie isn't even based on it and has new characters made up so maybe you will like the movie instead.

I'm not too high on messing up good stuff (be it comics, novels or history) but I like what I've seen from the previews so far.

Apparently Connery and the director got in a fist fight during filming.

I've seen the preview and there's one thing I REALLY don't get: When the hell does this take place? Victorian era? 60's? Present? Future???

    AHhhhhhhhhhh

&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp&nbsp I'm guessing that the movie takes place in the late-1800's (Victorian era), but I've also wondered about that after seeing the 1920's-style car and the badguys' submachineguns in the previews.

I like the comic, and "cheated" as far as the movie...I just finished reading the "novelization."

Obviously, with no "[R]" in the thread, I'm not going to go into any details here.

I'll say this much, though; the movie remains somewhat loyal to the spirit of the comic. It takes place in the 1890s, and the "futuristic" weapons referred to above are inventions of various characters. And the door is wide open for a sequel.

I'm looking forward to the movie.
