yup, I called it back in 2017 that Germany was headed downwards HARD even with CC17 and U21 2017 trophies.

The Signs were ALL there at the time, lack of CFs (I include Havertz in this, LULZ), 0 dribbling, neverending passing that goes nowhere, we get wrecked easily in counters, too much tinkering and playing around in every tourney.

add things like obsession with Kimmich at M or Kimmich+Goretzka duo at M, Havertz at CF in 3 back to back tourneys, too soft in Defensive measures, lack of aggressiveness as well, bunch of Neuer blunders in past few tourneys and its been a disaster.

this lost generation is HILARIOUS, they have more talent than WC02 group but WC02 lot had that GRIT to GRIND their way through to final, they didn't lose to lesser teams. Where was Neuville to score vs Paraguay in WC26 like he did in WC02.:p

at this point, I want to see ALL of them gone and we move on from them. More realistic keep a very very very few of them just to help transitionary roles but EC28 needs to be end of road to ALL of them.

I do hope that next gen youngsters at least help us start to make deep runs again even if we don't win any trophies, I would 10000000000000000000000000000000000000% take something akin to 2002-2012 era back in heartbeat, where we don't win but we at least showed something worthy.

and yeah we need to go back to basics and reclaim our identity once and for all.

Copying trends is never a good idea, you will always be a step behind. We will never be able to out-Spain Spain, so the best thing is to play to our own strengths. We have been saying this for years tbf, it's so frustrating how it's taken 3 consecutive flops at WC's for a few more of the DFB hierarchy to finally wake up to that idea.

The lack of introspectiveness in the DFB is disgusting.

its because DFB for a long time just threw players under the bus and make millions excuses because nobody wants to be blamed for anything. Also a LOT of the Spanish rehash crap was Low who pushed for it but that clown has been gone for 6 years now. More funny almost all the ones who ruined DFB are at this point gone and took other jobs.

that's why introspectiveness is hard for them to do.

hopefully Klopp+Per can turn the ship around.

I don't think that's the kind of football Jurgen Klopp will wanna play tho, to be fair.

It has been really long time. Welcome back Ger90.
What about Kimmich ? Do you think he will play any role under Klopp and in which position?
Concerning the CBs , will Klopp give chances to Jeltsch and Coulibaly because we need the most talented CBs to be as backups for Schlotterbeck and Tah who are supposed to be starters in Euro 28.

agreed. why are we even talking about it?

the reality is the core german players at Bayern play a lot of possession based football. Vinny has one of the most modern and tactically sophisticated approaches. Rene Maric is key to it.

Obviously the national team can’t have the level of sophistication Bayern have but id expect Klopp to go in a modern direction.

Klopp himself has expressed in interviews his dislike for the Spanish style of football, so we're safe in the knowledge that he's not afflicted by the Spanish disease.

Now let's hope that unlike his predecessors Flick and Nagelsmann, Klopp is fully aware that club football is NOTHING like NT football, and you can only work with what's at hand. That was Flick and Nagelsmann's big mistake, running the NT like a club team with their constant tinkering.

I think Kimmich will be kept around and sadly likely in M, LOL. But this is very likely going to be his final round with Germany will be 33 years old at EC28.

as for Jeltsch there are reports that he is very highly rated but that he might not necessarily get quick call up come Fall. Could see him be more wait and see how they do next season. Jeltsch will play CL next season that could be a good indicator and him taking next step. Coulibaly I could see a more wait and see how he does next season given last season was his 1st pro season.

for CBs one would expect guys like Thiaw, Bisseck etc might be used instead as back ups at least for the near future.

Am I only REALLY excited to see Klopp Germany.

I really feel like potential wise, Klopp Germany could be a Germany WC10 flashback. I do think Klopps Germany could be Germany WC06-WC10.

not talking about results (time will tell) but about crazy attacking football that emerged in that period. Just hope its not too much like WC06-EC08 where we conceded a LOT, LMAO.

its pretty crazy to think the mastermind behind that was Low but then after WC10 he basically transitioned to a more possession based footy and basically ditch that go full crazy attacking style.

could make for a more fun time watching then in past decade, LMAO.

Over the last decade we have definitely lost our identity and strengths. What works for the Spanish certainly cant work for us. Just hope Klopp is the guy who helps us to be ourselves again.

For the above to succeed. We need personnel who bring character in adversity. If that means bringing in lesser names to form a real team ethic then so be it!

If we should copy anything from Spain its their collective defending. Think that is impressive how every player works hard taking the right positions not giving away any space.

Otherwise it would be nice with fast transitions, and variation in the game. Not a dogmatic system where longer balls are prohibited.
Think Klopp can be the man for a more pragmatic approach and getting the best out of the players.

Germany defense are masters of brain farts.

Its always crazy how so many games at all levels whether SNT or YNT, its basically pedestrian blunders, brain farts, stupid positioning by some players and we are done and dusted. Nevermind the high line self-destruct aspect, LULZ.

if Rudiger never plays for Germany I wont miss him. A master of brain farts and his clearances were basically kid stuff worthy. As joke goes, beast at Madrid but a school boy playing footy in NT, LMAO.

I'm curious to see how the next gen CBs dev in future. I've always been firm in that the 90s born CBs will NEVER EVER win you anything outside of CC17.

I love klopp especially as a BVB fan but I am afraid of being excited again because I had this feeling the moment Flick was appointed and more so when Nagelsmann was the coach. I believe Nagelsmann is one of the best tactical coaches and I still can't understand what went wrong with the mannchaft in WC 2026. Probably Julian made some mistakes in his selections by not calling up few names like El Mala , Bischof , adeyemi and Tresoldi and by putting all his faith in Sane and calling Neuer again. However, there are other factors that made the team look so bad because with the names we have we could have done much better.
First , Musiala's being far away from his top level In Euro 24 after injury. 2nd : karl's injury and before that Gnabry. Both were in outstanding form and could have made a big impact. 3rd : Schlotterbeck's injury that was very unlucky too that made us lose our most important defender in defending and build up. 4th : pavlovic and kimmich looked really in bad form unlike their season with bayern. 5th: Nagelsmann being stubborn by not changing his team especially in 3rd match where he should have rotated most of his team and gave chances to the bench players especially Leweling, Woltemade and Beier. 6th: this is not new because Germany always are victoms of bad refereeing that cost us the match against Paraguay ( we did not play great match though but we created chances more than France did against Paraguay but were robbed ).

I think a big issue with NT is as we adopted a more slow possession style, its basically that style of play has shifted the NT to becoming more lazy and more complacent.

like reaction time and movements are all sluggish and slow and almost 0 intensity.

past Germany felt faster, more intense, more focused, more aware, more professional and at ease with grinding results.

cant be only one who thinks that none of these CBs were that great, I have nostalgia for them more than I ever rated them. Per always made me warry for how slow he is but always well positioned. Friedrich was nothing special either.
Metzelder, Arne Friedrich, Giant Man Per, LOL.

with these CBs we made finals and 3rd place finish and then for past 10 years, ALL the CBs have been embarrassing even though they have more potential but all wasted.

issue with Nagelsmann is I think it was too early for him coaching the NT. He tinkers too much and has this almost childlike mentality on some aspects and like you mentioned very stubborn man too. Also neither him nor Flick could ever eliminate the Bayern bias they had due to coaching Bayern. We need a coach who doesn't care about Bayern bias and picks based on need of players.

I do agree that numerous unforeseen circumstances ruined WC26, although France would likely have eliminated us anyways even if we went past Paraguay.

I think Pavlovic was overused last season, should have allowed Bischof more game time in M at Bayern.

Honestly guys. After evaluating our recent Tournaments meltdowns it basically comes to lack of character's in adversity. We were the masters at this which was one of our core strengths. We lack leaders on and off the field which makes a massive difference.

The focus on our future squads should have this characteristics at the helm

We had many talents in this generation but they all or most flopped badly. Imagine Süle, Brandt, Gnabry, Sane, Kimmich, Werner . They are only 30 or 31 but who is still there ? Kimmich only because he is playing for bayern and we lack rbs. German players are retiring at very young age like Schürrle at 29 ( at least he made the assist for the 4th star) and Götze ( nothing much after 2014 truimph). When I see other countries relying on players 37 or 38 years old or even older ( Modric, Peresic, Thiago Silva , Barzagli, ... I won't mention Messi and Ronaldo cuz they r legends) , I wonder why German players don't last for long unlike before. Our oldest players to play in big tournament recently are Kroos and Gündogan at 34

Absolutely agree. Nagelsmann has the potential to be a top coach but he does lack experience when it comes to adversity. He panics and starts tinkering massively.

Pavlovic was basically burnt out by Kompany. His quality is undeniable.

its sad reality they panned out at club level winning basically everything but outside of CC17 they flopped hard in NT.

Tah is another one still there but that seems to be it.

Schurrle sadly had mental breakdown, he got fed up with competitive footy and quit and Gotze had medical issues that essentially made him lesser player after that. I'm okay with how Gotze+Schurrle ended up because they won us our 4th star. The goal to dev players is to win trophies so mission complete.

Germany in general we have this thing where most players retire by 35-36 MAX. I also dont think DFB is too keen on old players as it makes the future look bad if you have too many grandpas on field. That was always criticism of the late 90s to early 00s, team was too old.

Arne Friedrich played for freaking Hertha, was never a standout CB at club level yet he held his own for the NT until Hummels phased him out. Mertesacker made up for his lack of speed by knowing how to be in the right place at the right time.

Rüdiger on the other hand has had a stellar career at club level but is one of the biggest flops for the NT.

I'll repeat what I've already stated many times before. That issue started with Löw, with opposing teams opening the scoreline being all it took to beat Germany.

Another reason I think Flick and Nagelsmann were total flops is that they were both accustomed to club football, and even though Flick was previously Löw's assistant, he was so enamoured with club football after tasting success at Bayern that he wanted to replicate the club experience with the NT, seemingly forgetting what it was like when was assistant coach at the NT.

Perhaps that's why the DFB used to hire fringe guys as NT head coaches, as successful club careers would have warped their view of NT football.

new update, is he contender for first call up...
In the German national team, the cards will be reshuffled after the embarrassing World Cup, following the resignation of Julian Nagelsmann (38) Jürgen Klopp (59) is in the starting blocks as the new national coach.

RB Leipzig: What Klopp appreciates about Reitz
And he knows Reitz very well. Klopp helped arrange his summer transfer to Leipzig, which had already been announced in March. Klopp and the sporting leadership in Leipzig appreciate Reitz's enormous running strength, his sprinting ability and his tackling strength.

He has already shown this in the German U21. He made 17 international appearances for the selection until June last year. Now some will soon be added for the senior national team.
