Havertz??? Why? What leadership qualities does he have over the others ? When things aren't going well his attitude is almost as terrible as Özil from back in the day.

Tah is almost the same age as Kimmich, so we may as well stick with club captain that Tah plays for.

I like Nico and he probably will be / should be the next captain, but how about we wait until he captain's his club first...

I just think taking the captaincy off Kimmich will cause unneeded friction between coach and player. I understand few people here don't rate Kimmich, but he is one of the best midfielders / passers we have and will be a waste to shelf him while he is still playing at a high level.

Personally I think Klopp will stick with Kimmich till 28 and then give it to Schlotterbeck after the Euros.

From the current squad , the only players that are locked to start in my opinion in Euro if they don't get injured are Schlotterbeck, Tah, Nmecha, Musiala, Wirtz, Karl, and Havertz so usually the captain is the one of the older players.

Sure but you don't need to be captain of your club to be captain of your NT. Look at Ballack. Look at Mbappe?

Lothar Matthäus wasn't club captain when he won the 1990 World Cup as Germany captain.

Agree. The GOAT Matthaus was a fine German Captain.

No doubt about it. As we saw in the Final our Midfield wasn't quite the same without his quality.

promising next gen CF, hopefully the Stuttgart move pans out. Would be criminal if hes forced to play 2BL next season because Wolfsburg wants too much money. Stuttgart are also being annoying just sell a youngster or two from II team that you have 0 interest to integrate and then youd have the money to get the demand set.

Hopefully he moves asap to have any chance of being selected by Klopp in September ( I doubt klopp would select a BL2 player) to avoid any poaching.
Wolfsburg are few Millions away from breaking the record in terms of money spent from a BL2 team. Selling Pejcinovic would allow to spend even more.

if transfer fails, what stab in back to DFB by Wolfsburg.

ALL of these 1BL-2BL clubs especially 1BL always for ages bitch about
    Where are the German CFs.

and then imagine having one that is followed by SNT coach and you screw all of that for no good reason but for $$$. Reality Wolfsburg is full of shit they want as much $$$ for Pejcinovic that Adeyemi cost which is nonesensical.

After Adeyemi, Nmecha is linked to Newcastle. This would be a huge blow for BVB and to BL even if they get a big amount of money, because it will be very hard to replace their best player.
On the other hand, Nmecha will join Thiaw, Woltemade and Jaissle and will form a german core that would be interesting to folllow.

Can I ask why you don't think Kimmich is a lock if he is not injured ? Who do you have ahead of him ?

I get that, but again we are causing unrest for not much of an upgrade. It's not like Nico is a much better leader than Kimmich...at least we haven't seen that yet.

I would definitely consider starting Bischof ahead of him for both Bayern and Germany.

Obviously he still has room for improvement but he can do a lot of what Kimmich does on the ball, but with the added bonus of better mobility/physicality and is a lot better on set pieces.

In particular for the NT I think we need to build around the younger guys at this point, Kimmich isn't likely to be around for the next WC so let's build a midfield around Pavlovic, Bischof, Nmecha, Stiller, Ouedraogo, Eichhorn, Aseko etc.

Kimmich in a double pivot with pavlovic for me is a backwards step. Nmecha Pavlovic combo showed alot of potential. Needs to be given the chance to build a Chemistry and experience of knowing each other's games.

Because he is not getting any younger . He is only starting as rb due to our lack of decent right backs more than because he ia a great one. In midfield we already have better and faster players in addition to our new generation that will get better and more experienced in 2 years ( Quedraogo, Bischof, Eichhorn,..)
I like Kimmich and what I like most about him is that he is rarely injured ( like Müller) and he represents the german spirit that we lack nowadays. However, I think we should move forward with other players and Kimmich can be a great option off the bench.

Klopp said in an interview with kicker, that one of the lessons of the world cup is, that the 4 man defense won over the 3 man defense. That's promising.

If Kimmich and Pav is the starting midfield for Germany then there is a good chance Klopp goes with that IMO

At liverpool he eventually settled on having 3 destroyers in midfield with attacking and progression on the flanks - especially via Trent.

On the other hand his epic Dortmund team had the likes of Gundo and Goetze central

So much might depend on where/how Musiala plays this season, and whether he evolves in to more of an 8. Pre injury it seemed like he might be the true playmaker in the Bayern side.

Iam all for the new generation, I want Klopp to do what he did at BVB from 2010-2014 and build a team around early 20s players, but the reality of international football doesn't really allow that because you are not spending day in day out with these players. You need experienced players around especially when things aren't not going your way.

Nmecha and Pavlovic didn't look great ( I will be generous here) and say in 2 out of the 4 matches we played. They are very talented players and I get that they are likely the future but they are not ready to lead the midfield against tough teams....now will Klopp try to fit Kimmich in there with them as a cover? I hope so but not sure.

I understand he only played RB because we have no one better to play there...but again, that's another option for him since we have no one better at this stage.

Again, all Iam saying is that you can't discard players who are still playing at a good level...you just let natural progression take its course. We didn't throw out Frings and Ballack just to fit Schweinsteiger and Khedira, they played around them until it was time to takeover.

Is Kimmich the best midfielder in the world? No, top 10, top 20? No....but in my opinion he is still one of the best in Germany

Interesting, to my knowledge and a statement from Kimmich, he hasn't spoken to Kimmich yet. Am I correct? And if so, is there anything to read in that? Maybe he's just trying to make sure that his future NT is getting the best opportunity for development possible.

yes, last update was that Klopp hasn't spoken to Kimmich but I think for now its more that he is focusing on the next gen players that could boost SNT.

we have had some reports about Klopp pushing for things
-this new update on 06 W El Mala
-him following 05 CF Pejcinovic who seems on track for Stuttgart transfer
-some reports that hes pushing for Milan 06 CB Odogu to go to 1BL and hes currently linked with Klopp ex club Mainz.

Might be missing others I'm sure. Seems like Klopp is trying to push promising next gen players to make the RIGHT transfers.

From what I understand is that Bischof has improved significantly and may be a partner to Kimmich at Bayern. Apparently some concerns from Lahm (take it for what you will) about his performance:

    https://www.bavarianfootballworks.c...aleksandar-pavlovic-to-be-dropped-from-the-xi

And some more non-information (basically speculation) about the September call ups:
