Hey I gotta question... Anyone seen these commercials for Steven King's The Kingdom on whatever channel they're airing it on? About ten years ago I watched this mini-series that was I think about six hours long called The Kingdom and it was out of like Denmark or some country like that that doesn't speak right. It was really goon and I never really knew what it was. About two years later, I saw it on video but it was nowhere near as long as the original one I saw. Now, like the new version that's coming out soon, this one was about a hospital that had all kinds of creepy ******** going on. I;m wondering basically a few things here... 1) Was the one I saw also written by Steven King? 2) Was the video version the same one just cut up? 3) Is Steven King's version going to suck? 4) Is that original one I saw available on DVD (uncut)? 5) Why do those damned Dutch talk so funny?
Written and directed by Lars von Trier, who did Breaking the Waves. Yes- it was originally a televison miniseries cut down for theatrical release. nein Cause they're Danish. Sounds like English spoken by a retard with a pipe shoved down his throat, doesn't it?
Re: Re: The Kingdom Sure does, man. Sure does. Thanks for all that info. I really liked that mini-series. I just sent an email to the fine folks over at A Million and One World-Wide Videos to have them track it down. I'll let you know if they come up with anything.
Re: Re: Re: Re: The Kingdom A Million and One World-Wide Videos is a site that will hunt down rare and out of print movies, TV shows, or mini-series. They tell you up front to make sure you can't find it anywhere else first, as they try to be a last resort. You give them the title or director and a brief description and they'll do their best. You'll usually get it on video - often something someone else actually taped of the TV. Now that sounds crappy, but believe me, there are some things that I really want that badly and don't care what format it comes in. http://www.wwvideos.com/freeinfo.html I've used them a couple times before and they do a good job. You usually have to wait a day or three for a response, but that's not too bad. And the whole service is free!
That Lars Von Trier miniseries was great. I remeber spending a whole weekend in watching that on IFC a few years back.
Ok this is way,way of topic, but I'd like to ask AFL a question. I'm moving from Lexington to Cincy in May, and liked to know how soccer fan friendly the town is. Bars, stores, O-30 leagues that kinda of thing. Thanks. By the way your PM IS full.
Oh, it's not the worst place in the world to be a soccer fan. We do have a couple over thirty league that I've played in and I'm sure there's more that I don't know about. As far as bars are concerned, we have a couple - most notibly Happ's in Hyde Park - that are soccer friendly. They used to play EPL games live on Saturday Mornings and Wednesdays, but I have no idea if they still do. I really don't watch EPL and I own my own bar, so I don't get out much. I'll clean out my PM box sometime soon. give me a coule days and try to rePM me if you need more info. I'd be happy to help you out with whatever information you need - soccer or otherwise.
