The kids are alright
U15s in England
"Greg Patrick scored twice today. He scored the first DCU goal of the match, a 32-yard rocket that went upper 90 in the right side to even it at 1-1."
Sign him up!
United's Super-Y teams have been kicking ass lately.
Gotta teach the boys about ManYoo...
"The boys visited Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium yesterday, and there is a megastore inside with tons and tons of Man U. memorabilia and gear"
Ray would probably not be happy. He needs to deck them out in Newcastle gear when they get back.
They are all in first place! U-16 undefeated.
I think it's time for some call-ups. We're getting near to a U20 lineup anyway.
Also, if Hudson wants to get Mapp some games, why doesn't he just send him with one of these teams? I guess he's already 16, but we could get him a Little League birth certificate. People would believe it.
Congrats to the United Youth Teams. It sounds like they improving by leaps and bounds, and are competitive with some of the top youth teams.
It's also good that they're getting the flavor of the game in a different country. In the US, we tend to play direct, fast play on the ground. In England they play physical tactical play by kicking long balls to the corner and whipping in crosses to forwards for headers. I don't think our teams are really that accustomed to that style of play, so that is a real education for them. We need more aerial play, and getting used to the rougher physical play will help them later in their careers.
And this just in ... they're getting better. The results of the Everton tourney can be found at:

saw this on the US junior boards. about the DC United Reserves. Here's what Tron wrote. I'm pretty impressed. they even won of the FA Academy's biggest pre-season tournament, the Everton Soccer Festival.
One more trophy the Metros won't get.
I still say if Mapp needs some games we should suit him up for the U17 team.
My intramural team could use a good left winger
