Juve is close to selling Nicolusi-Caviglia to Venezia. I think this will negatively impact Tessman’s chances at Venezia. Not that they weren’t negatively impacted already, but this could be the nail in his coffin.
I do see it working out, simply because his "agents" have burned their bridges with everyone in Italy, it's impossible to see him staying with Venezia and he's a long way from being EPL-ready unless it's to go on loan in the Championship. Not much sign of interest from anywhere outside Turkey, so where else would he go?
if the season starts and there’s no deal, there doesn’t seem to be any alternative except for Tessman to play for Venezia. He’ll play Serie A games and Venezia desperately needs players to claw their way to avoiding relegation. If Tessman’s good enough for Fiorentina or Torino, he’s a starter for them. Maybe Tessman can get free of these parasitic agents and find a better club in January.
Bummer of a transfer window so far. Was hoping to see moves for Sargent, McKennie, Reyna, Tessmann, Yow, McKenzie, Turner, McGlynn. McGuire etc etc... I know some of these will likely still happen but pre-seasons are over, seasons are starting and we are getting late in the window. Not ideal.
Players currently in bad club situations and need to transfer: Matt Turner Gio Reyna Weston McKennie Reggie Cannon Justin Che Joshua Wynder John Brooks Jonathan Gomez Pedro Soma Zach Booth Josh Atencio Brian Gutierrez Niko Tsakiris Agustin Anello Alan Sonora Duncan McGuire Jesus Ferreira Matthew Hoppe Compared to players who need an upgrade: Mark McKenzie (if he’s good enough for Stuttgart, etc.) Griffin Yow Bryan Reynolds George Bello Kristoffer Lund (maybe could stick around for another year but Serie B ain’t going to cut it) John Tolkin Tanner Tessman (playing in Serie A isn’t necessarily a bad deal) Gianluca Busio (same deal) Jack McGlynn (go now or never) James Sands (would like him to try Europe again. He’s still young) Rokas Puktsas
I'd argue that having a club is a prerequisite for have a bad club situation I'd also take issue with calling Wynder's club situation "bad"... he pretty much lost a season due to injury, but is picking up right where he left off: as a teenage starter for Benfica B who receives extremely high praises from the fans and the press and is probably going to be competing for first-team spots as soon as next season. If there's any club issue there, it's just that, historically, Yanks have a poor track record in Portugal. But I also think Wynder is the first player since Gooch to be treated with real respect by one of the "big 3". Anyway, I digress. No news on the Tessmann front other than most people (most notably Pedulla) agreeing that the Fiorentina move is probably dead, but the club is still in need of midfielders... who knows?
"Big 3" = EPL, BL1 and La Liga or Benfica, Porto and Sporting? Edit: Also, Wynder's older brother, who's still only 22 is also a pro for Louisville. Any chance of him stepping up a level?
Portugal's big 3: Benfica, Porto, Sporting. Maybe in the near future Braga will force their way into the conversation, but I don't think they have a trophy cabinet needed to be part of that conversation right now.
They won't. The trophy cabinet is pretty bare, of course, but the support base isn't there either both because the city is on the small side and because the Big 3 have 50% of the football fans in the city anyway. They're like Brentford: just exceptionally well-managed on and off the pitch. Maybe Vitoria Guimares could, bigger city and much bigger support base but their periods of good management seem to be more sporadic
Who knows what will happen to Tessman, but why Busio? He's starting at Venezia, he's been there a few seasons now and it's not like he's warranted a move to a big club. He seems to be in the ideal situation for him.
Yeah, I kept my mouth shut before expecting someone with a better memory than mine to chime in, but I'd also thought that Tessmann had very recently replaced his agent with a new one (presumably the douche wagon that's wrecked everything). Like, since the end of last season.
From Triveneto Goal: It's a sensational epilogue, although not really when one considers everything that has happened. Tanner Tessmann was left off of the roster and will not make the trip to Rome for the match against Lazio on Sunday afternoon. Venezia has taken a hard-line stance with the intent of sending a strong message to the American midfielder after the events of the last two months. Tessmann, in fact, has caused two deals (with Inter and Fiorentina) to collapse, thanks to the exorbitant demands of his agents. Now he will remain on the margins as he awaits further offers between now and the end of August with an expiring contract. https://www.trivenetogoal.it/2024/0...n-finisce-fuori-lista/216414/#google_vignette
I bet he returns to the field when the window closes, or else, not only do they risk wasting his salary, but they open themselves up to lawsuits. And if Tanner remains punished, he is entitled to terminate his contract at the end of the season if he plays less than 10% of the available competitive minutes during the season.
Beautiful. Tanner and his reps appear to have thought they had far more leverage coming from the 2nd division than they have in reality.
Yup, Drake rescued Venezia yet again. He runs a sub-brand of Nike called "Nocta" that is trying to enter the European sports market. The best way to push their designs is to sponsor a club, and they have been sponsoring Venezia since last season and this season renewed the deal, plus some extra to save the club: https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/ne...ised-40-million-to-save-team-from-bankruptcy/
I'm not sure I'd take the side of a club needing bailouts from a Canadian rapper to stay in business without first hearing from Team Tessmann.
This piece is reporting that Torino is once again considering Tessmann: As reported by [Turin-based newspaper] La Stampa, it appears Paolo Vanoli's team has this morning decided to test the waters in the Venetian lagoon. The coach likes the player so much that the Granata could try to make a move and attempt to climb the "commissions mountain" that Pradè and Ferrari found too hard to stomach. https://www.fiorentinauno.com/news/...attempo-si-interessa-anche-una-rivale-europea
