⚫️🔵🇺🇸 Deal currently off between Tanner Tessmann and Inter despite the agreement between clubs with Venezia. No agreement on personal terms, deal now off. pic.twitter.com/rYNkU0zCIs— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) July 19, 2024
Seems like TT and Agents went back on previously agreed upon terms -- agent commission and salary. Inter wasn't having any of it and pulled the plug. Source: Tuttosport.
Or maybe he realized he was being signed for accounting purposes and has no desire to be a pawn in that game.
From The Scottish Sun: Celtic 'ready to hijack transfer of talented midfielder, 22, who REJECTED Inter Milan this week'
Another move is a certainty. He's hot right now, has plenty of serious teams interested, his contract is up in June, Venezia need the money now and his value isn't likely to increase much during a long, grinding struggle against relegation. He also very evidently wants to leave, which has implications for dressing-room unity in a relegation struggle Players leave in 95% of those cases
Another move is a certainty. He's hot right now, has plenty of suitors, his contract is up Venezia need the money and his Madrid or Sociedad?? OK, I'll show myself out . . .
Sign young players that aren't ready for the club then sell them for a profit later on so that the books will allow them to bring players that are ready for the club.
There are 3 pros and 3 cons to this move. Pros: Rodgers doesn't have a great history of winning trophies but he does have a record of improving players. EL and possible CL ball. A sell-to-buy club. Cons: We'll be watching SPL ball. We'll be watching SPL ball. We'll be watching SPL ball.
I don’t know enough about Inter to say one way or another…but this doesn’t sound like a great strategy. you’re assuming 1)you don’t have to pay the big club premium when signing the player in the first place and 2)by loaning the player out to another club they magically increase in value..and 3)you have to make sure the hits outweigh the misses for this strategy to work. It’s far more likely that a hey realize they can buy ten young players that are not ready to play for inter for the price of one that is. They can take the loss on 9 of those players and come out ahead if one makes it
Torino is still waiting on the deal which would see their Serbian midfielder, Ivan Ilic, go to Russian club Zenit St. Petersburg for appx €23M. An Italian newspaper today reported that this hold-up comes down to making sure the deal will not be in violation of sanctions on Russia. https://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/ras...ltre-l-embargo-l-affare-e-in-stand-by-1991907 All this could also be what is holding up a potential Torino offer for Tessmann (speculation on my part).
Every summer Scotland's tabloids link anyone and everyone who comes on the market to one of the Old Firm and sometimes both, especially if a move to a big club breaks down. That said, a line in there mentions Brentford as bein interested. That is a move to get behind: a great coach, a well-run club, an FO that signs rather few flops, a clear(er) path to PT, a more important player to them than to Inter, etc.
Which leads me to believe this was a smart move. If they were really confident he’d be a significant contributor next fall (as opposed to this one)…they would have.
