He's deserving of more chances but he needs to take advantage. The one game he played in isn't enough as many players have looked poor in their first game. There needs to be chemistry with teammates and butterflies dwindle the more you play. He could be on the verge but without injuries I'm not sure who he would push aside right now. If he does this in Serie A he'll make a better case.

It’s all the evidence we have.

If I were Gregg, I’d start Tesseman in a lower stakes NL match, like a home match with a minnow. He’s earned another look.

I agrée with the original statement. He is a talent, and offers a different profile than what you lot have in those positions already. He’s better on the ball than McKennie (better striker of the ball, better in tight spaces, more technical), reads the game better than McKennie, is stronger and taller, and only 22. I think people will only start to pay attention once he plays in Serie A with Venezia or the other sides rumored to want his signature.

My sense of Wes is he’s pretty inconsistent. Given that, Tesseman is the other purest 8 in the pool, so he’s a natural like for like if Weston is having a stinker.

Wow. I don’t really follow Inter and I was hoping to see Tessman take a step up club wise but I didn’t see him going straight to the top of Serie A.

Think I’d prefer a more modest step up where the club would rely on him more (Torino, Bologna, Napoli) but can’t complain too much.

Staying in Venice one more season makes it an interesting proposition. If he has a great season and the Inter midfield gets a year older (its already a pretty old group outside of Barella) he might have a chance to fight for minutes after next season.

Ok, that's a big bit of interest if true. With the loan-back and the vagaries of transfers it's probably not going to happen, but to have a YA in the ranks of Inter, AC and Juve in the same season would be quite the developmental milestone.

Watching the Japan match, I was impressed with how big he is.

I believe he had a football scholarship offer from Clemson before he signed with FC Dallas. And not just as a kicker, he was seen as a potential high level tight end as well. If you have the size to play TE in college football, and you have the athleticism to play the 6 or 8 in soccer....that's special.

Whew…The loan back makes sense but Inter seems like a step too far, even in 25/26.

That's wild. But Marotta is the master. 11 scudetti and 3 cl finals on his resume I think

Sort of yes and no... Dabo Sweeny the head coach at Clemson is a family friend. He had a scholarship waiting to play at Clemson as a kicker. Sweeny was quoted as saying something along the lines of he could also play Tight End for us but the scholarship was to be a kicker.

This is what Venezia said when they were purchasing him https://grantwahl.substack.com/p/premium-is-stability-possible-in

“Tanner is what I considered my big bet,” Menta says. “He’s a kid who’s an athletic specimen. He’s huge, he’s fast, he’s strong, and above all nobody's going to outwork Tanner. The data on him was interesting. Was it like a normal purchase where it was green lights all over the board? No, and I told him the same thing. But if you bring his size and speed and improve a couple areas of his game, I’m excited to see what he does.

Yeah, this is correct. Dabo is actually his godfather too. My son played against Tanner before Tanner went to FC Dallas academy. Tanner played two years up and was still one of the better players on his club team in Birmingham. Chris Richards played on that team as well for a year or two before going to Houston then Dallas. Crazy to have two kids from Birmingham in my son’s age group now playing at the highest levels in the world!

Thing about Tessmann as a football place kicker is he's almost as good with his left as his right. How many place kickers ever could score (I think) 55with the left and 60 with the right (in high school)? It's very intriguing knowing he can accurately ping long balls with either foot. He still has a way to go but in a way he's sort of Pirlo like and could really dictate games from deep if he lives up to his ceiling and I'd still like to see him crank more shots from deep. He may not them all but as hard as he can shoot it would certainly require defensive adjustments resulting in more room for advanced teammates.

If it goes through, I hope Inter incentivizes the deal so that Venezia need to play him.

I haven't watched a whole game of his at Venezia - just highlights. If the idea that he is just 'raw' is correct, then playing time will be essential for his continued development.

But wouldn't it be something if he ended up playing (consistently, even as a sub) at Inter in 2 years!?
