The quote of Masteroni being shopped around is very interesting. The number #1, for Pablo? Interesting.

I don't see us doing that. We have Zavagnin and Morsink for the D-mid slot, it doesn't make sense to make a move for Pablo. It also wouldn't fit with the move towards youth that it appears Onalfo is going for.

I saw the Nick trade as being one to dump a salary before his decline. Pablo would be even worse. Granted, he's still playing at a pretty high level...but he's not going to bounce back from an injury at his age. Nick still might've.

Is Beltran a RB in MLS? I would guess yes. I saw a lot of him at the U20's, and while he wasn't the best player out there, he showed me enough to be excited about having him. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the real #1 is out of left field compared to what the experts have tipped.

Bonji obviously feels strong about his source and now has Goff backing him up.

I am wondering two things with all this talk about drafting a right back:
    1) what it will do to Jack's playing time
    2) what about Raybould? Are they considering him as a starter at all?

EDIT: Ives is saying Myers will be the pick as well, but he is saying left back---sooooo that means Mikey moves back up to LM. :)

Course Ives could be using Goff as his source.

I was thinking the same thing, I've always been a fan of Pablo's.

Hmm, I don't like the idea of going for a RB with the number one pick. I hate all the rumors! Ahhh!! Where is 1:00?!?!?

I was under the impression that the team was trying to build up to be an exciting attacking side. With EJ on his way out, picking up a D-man with the #1 pick in a thin draft does not make much sense. Pure speculation here, but if they take a d-man with the #1 then it seems that either the EJ deal is off or there is a trade already lined up to bring in a striker or strong attacking MF. Either that or their is truth in the belief (which I agree with) that ownership is going to put a mediocre side on the field the next two years and build up capital for a big push in the new stadium. Its easier to win 1-0 with a mediocre side than it is to win 5-4.

Ivan Trujillo might be the answer to this one.

and seeing as myers is generation adidas, that gives us more salary cap room to sign a forward or a-mid if something is in the works.

I have seen Ivan play on FSC once. He is decent. But Sealy decent...which I know Sealy's merits have been questioned on this board repeatedly. IMO, Turjillo is not much of a sloution. For sure he is not good enough to warrant a defenseman as our first pick. D men have an easier time transitioning to MLS from college, so it does not make much sense to take a D man first overall in a draft that has few decent forwards to pick from. Would rather see us trade the pick or take a forward at number 1 and a dman at 11. Guess we will know in Ongoals plan in a minute!

Nyarko is a GA player also though, correct? I'll be the first to admit I don't really follow college soccer, but the notion of getting a (relatively) young forward had me excited. I do suppose drafting a solid defensive player makes sense, but with EJ out and Arnaud missing the start of the season, I would be very worried about what would happen should Sealey take another injury...

Guess we'll see in a few minutes?
