Should have lost that 5-0. Perin was brilliant and kept us in the game. I can understand the substitutions with us playing inter on Sunday. We got battered tonight. They were physically stronger and hungrier. Our final ball was terrible and why Fagioli is playing a short pass with almost the last kick of the game, surely you have to put the ball in the box. Savanna,Danilo,Mckennie were aweful. As a team we were moving the ball to slow again and didn’t create anything. Locatelli steadied us and done well, but we got what we deserved tonight and that was outclassed and came away with nothing. If we defend like that against inter and stand off them inviting them to shoot with all that space to play in we will get demolished. Agree with Dante MOM Perin.
Motta is a weird one. He sure likes to tinker at times. I agree that Savonna seems out of his depth, but the fundamental problem is the midfield got its ass kicked. Fagioli was a little too loose with the ball at times, but that was also the result of the spacing in the midfield being wrong (not compact enough). Thuram and McKennie lack skill....so does Weah. It's a real problem. Teams are also figuring out Yildiz and if we don't start getting more creative in moving him around, he's not going to be much use for us. Oh, and Cabal sucks too. A lot of these acquisitions this year have been sh*t again as usual in recent history.
We need a lot of work. Motta needs to find a way of playing that gets all of our best players on the pitch at the same time. I said it before the season started that we did not have enough in our attack to win the Scudetto. In the CL our goal has to be to get through to at least the knockouts and take it from there. Maybe in jan we can bolster the attack but we only have one legit hitman and that is not enough. Danilo hasn't been playin g for a reason and it was on display yesterday. The loss of Bremer is going to be very significant this year.
Don Fabio is correct: 😲Capello calls out Italian football"Italian football is too slow. As soon as we encounter teams that may not be very skilled technically, like Stuttgart, but run hard, we struggle.""The long, unnecessary possessions are of no use."🗣️Fabio Capello to @SkySport pic.twitter.com/AFTCQ5uejh— Bianconeri Zone (@BianconeriZone) October 23, 2024
Capello is correct about Italian football being too slow. While Juventus is competitive in Italy, they lack the overall quality to compete in the Champions League. I'm sure they won't finish in the bottom eight of this new format but I'm pretty sure they also won't finish in the top eight and thus will have a playoff match which could be dicey.
Maybe he just got it wrong in this one match. I'm not ready to jump off a ledge just yet. It's hard to overreact two months into Motta's tenure. Defensively, the team has been solid all year. As was predictable in the summer, we lack options in attack. We've seen it against lesser Serie A sides, and it will certainly be on display against better sides in Champions League, even if Stuttgart is hardly Real Madrid. My hope is that the side improves offensively as guys like Koopmeiners and Gonzalez gel, and that we get someone who can deputize Vlahovic. I said in the summer that it was a reach to give Yildiz the #10 jersey. He has done nothing other than show potential so far, and we are treating him like a key player.
You know the way to beat fast paced European teams? By moving the ball quickly. That takes skill. Yet, we just embark on a campaign of signing mediocre to poor footed players in midfield. Thuram and McKinnie were a disaster yesterday. Fagioli kept losing the ball because he was swarmed and the other midfielders weren't giving him an outlet quickly enough OR he was just too slow with the ball himself. Until we stop stacking our team with brick footed players, we will pay the price. We'll make noise and play some good D, but it won't be enough in CL IMO.
Barca want to get Frenkie de Jong off their books in January. Don't know what the price tag might be or whether his ankle problem is behind him. He certainly would help Juve by accelerating the pace in the MF.

No Danilo. He has been horrible all season. Oh, I see. He is suspended. Frankly that is good news for us.
