Actually LM89 has a point , it does sound a bit YS. Add an anti Marca bit, a rant about other teams' fans and an accusation of bias and you'd have nailed it.:D

I must admit I under-evaluated Guti, but my point still lies.. Guti staying would not be as beneficial to the team in the long term, he is getting old anyway.

(IMO) Guti is technically gifted and, on his good days, is probably the best at producing a defence splitting pass, but thats as far as it goes. He is inconsistent, poor defensively, lacks pace, cant run at the defence, cant dictate tempo against solid opposition, has low work rate and often loses his head. He is a great passer but not a great player. The likes of Sneijder are better than Guti not just because they can pass the ball as well, but because they are more consistent, and can do other things better than Guti.

Guti is like a specialist that can be used to devastating effect at the right time in the right game, but you cant build a team around him.

Sneijder was anything but consistent during his time here and that is what led to his departure.

Giving room for injury and his divorce issues, he was consistent. He was also consistent at Ajax and has been consistent at Inter.

Yeah, he was consistently poor for us (except for that brief period of time right at the beginning where he wasn't having divorce issues.)

Good call Umar. I'm not bashing him, because I really like Sneijder, but it was obvious he couldn't keep his head on straight in Madrid, for whatever reason.

Just wondering, whats the chant "Guti Guti Marikon" all about? What does it translate to?

Marikon is an epithet that translates to something like F*g*t (you can plug in the appropriate vowels). It's the best thing the opposition can come up with to insult Guti, because you know a wife and two kids just screams raging homo. Knowing Guti, if he was gay he probably would just come out with it and throw it in everyone's face because that' what his personality is like. Really, really stupid and immature chant in my opinion.

i believe they used to chant the same thing to beckham during his time at RM.

i've always thought guti was an unusual player. at his best, he's just brilliant for lack of better words. when not at his best, he's a liability in so many other areas. whether it's because of his attitude, laziness or just deficiencies in other aspects of the game, i dunno.

it's a shame that he never reached the potential he was capable of. but maybe that's fine with him.

all i know is he's been a joy to watch over the last decade or so.

    ^ The Riquelme syndrome.

Outstanding player, blessed with unique talent, vision, football brain, but damn lazy, complicated....

On his way to Istanbul to join a growing group of big names at Galatasray (Elano, Milan Baros, Harry Kewell, Arda Turan, Jo, Giovanni Dos Santos). I wish him the best and hope Rijkaard can squeeze a couple of more years out of him.

Is it 100% confirmed? I can't read Spanish.

I don't mind if he stays on another season because he is still an excellent option to have on the bench when we we are chasing a goal and running out of creativity in offense.

If he goes though, all the best but I think he will struggle outside of Madrid. He has serious attitude problems but he gets away with it here because he's a local who's been in the side forever, I doubt people outside of Madrid will put up with it.

It hasn't been confirmed by either Guti or the club. Marca and as are the only ones confirming it although on the rare instances when they agree on the same story it is likely true.
