Lots of prominent Dems can’t shake the habit of asking “How high?” when the media yells “Jump!”

That’s a problem regardless of how this plays out.

A lot of younger Democrats are still stuck in the 80s/90s.

To my white brethren here, as I said before, do not be concerned about the Black vote, the idea that the felon would get 20 to 25% of the AA vote is utter lunacy. He will be lucky to get 10%, at best.

On a related note, I am sensing growing angers at what could be called the Democratic Party "elites" or pundits, in the black community. People are growing increasingly frustrated with the Axelrod, Carville and other misfits with their constant Biden bashing. They will be ok if Bien decides to pass the torch but the rather morbid drumbeat is getting on folks nerves.

Axelrod and Carville's talents are that they got lucky with two of the most charismatic politicians in the last 40 years.

If they succeed in forcing Biden out, I'm not sure I'll be going to vote

They are both high on their own supply. Both full of shit and not just on the Biden question.

good line I saw today: at this point people don't listen to what he's saying, just how he's saying it. and if he says it well, they just ignore it and wait to hear the next sentence.

So I got invited to a Biden rally happening 20 minutes from my place. Sadly, I couldn't go but it would've been worth a visit.

That's something in news stories... that they can have a life of their own and once the story becomes one thing, (Biden's age and his mental acuity), nothing else gets a look in.

They were discussing this on BBC Newsnight over here and they were saying that Biden hasn't remained remarkably silent and whoever had managed to throw a net over him had done a brilliant job.

One of the people on the show was the actor, Alan Cumming, who's been a big dem fund-raiser apparently, and he was saying that he thought Biden would be a transition president but then, at some point, it seemed to change to be that he was going to try and stay on for another 4 years.

He said that he was at the same fund-raiser that Clooney was at and he also thought that Biden trying to get elected was a non-starter because his mind, on that occasion, just wasn't there.

He seemed to suggest that Biden can be very lucid and 'with it' sometimes but on other occasions he can't string more than a few word s together and make sense.

Just to be clear here, no one within the Biden camp or DNC ever said that Biden was a transition President, or that he was going to be a 1-term President. There was no point at which Biden or the DNC decided he was going to try and stay on for another 4 years.

Anyone that is saying this is ignoring the very clear statements by Biden and his staff, campaign and White House, that he was going to run in 2024. Seriously..

I never said they did. I said that's what HE thought as he thought he was too old and that people wouldn't take a guy in his 80's standing for a 4 year term as president, seriously.

I quoted only the portion of your post in which you, quite clearly, were quoting someone else. If you think my post was pointed at you… self-centered much?

Hey man. He’s getting up there in years. He gets stuff mixed up every once in a while, although those “once-in-a-whiles” are a bit more frequent these days. Give him a break! It’s not like he’s got the nuclear codes. ;);););)

I remember how difficult it was getting the car keys from my dad to prevent him from driving when he was that age. Saying he was stubborn is putting it nicely.

    Too little, too late?

An energized President Biden delivered remarks at a rally in Detroit, stirring chants of “lock him up” from the crowd as he attacked his rival, former President Donald Trump, the New York Times reports.

Said Biden: “I’m the only Democrat or Republican who has beaten Donald Trump ever. And I’m going to beat him again. I know him. Donald Trump is a loser.”

Maggie Haberman: “This is the most forceful Biden has been since his State of the Union speech, one that largely quelled Democrats’ concerns about the his age at the time, but which was many months before the debate.”

Nicholas Nehamas: “The number of people who watch this speech will be far, far fewer than the number that watched the debate or even Biden’s news conference last night. But some Democrats on Capitol Hill are texting that this performance is reassuring.”

If you realised I was quoting someone else then what was the point of your reply as everyone would have realised that without your 'helpful' comment.

More generally, you do exhibit a bit of a 'tone' sometimes with people on here, not just me... so maybe you should take a look in the mirror sometimes?

PSA's latest summary on the state of play is quite interesting, but also quite depressing

Biden lacks the strength to close the dissent down. But those who want a change have no path to get rid of him, short of a full scale mutiny which would be counter productive. So this story will just roll on

Biden will probably just run down the clock

What they are hearing from dem campaigners is all negative

Especially what you hear from Dems and campaigners in private is way worse then in public. No one wants to be the first to go all in.

It's a structural problem of a weak party system.

Obviously he should have stepped aside in '23 but there is no method for the party to remove a president who goes into full hubris / delusion mode.

Someone would have had to primary him, but obviously they would have almost certainly lost AND weakened him which is lose/lose, hence no one did it. Once that didn't happen party bosses have no mechanism, other than a semi-rebellion like this.

I came across a tweet ripping into KJP about her response to a question regarding student loan forgiveness. I won’t link the tweet as it opens with “DEI”…so the account is an obvious piece of shit…but on the substance I simply cannot comprehend why Dems and the whitehouse are so spectacularly bad at messaging this. This isn’t money that the government owes. It is money owed to the government. These mother********ers have never seen a tax cut they didn’t like. Call it a tax cut for ********s sake. Over and over. Respond with “what would you rather do…have the government spend that money they get from people every month? Or would you rather have those people pumping that money back into the economy. Wasn’t that all y’all’s argument for trickle down economics the last 50 years? The difference is we’re letting people who would actually spend the money….rather than just become even more wealthy….keep it.”

    It’s not that hard.

Note: I realize this is an oversimplification of the situation….but that doesn’t matter. It’s about messaging. Dems continue to be ********ing terrible at it.
