This could go into the Republican failure thread, but seems appropriate here too? The House will finally have a vote on whether to start the impeachment process for Biden and they released the text of the impeachment today. The vote is expected to be next week right before the House goes into recess for the rest of the year. With Santos getting the boot, if 4 Republicans fail to vote for the inquiry, it dies. Unfortunately, Buck (R-CO) has said he is the only Republican he knows of that will vote against the inquiry. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...authorize-biden-impeachment-inquir-rcna128541 The inquiry text is very light on the "High crimes and misdemeanors" performed by Biden, but, of course, focuses on allegations against Hunter and James Biden and saying they are linked to Joe Biden.
No no, it makes perfect sense; Marek is so opposed to (further) immigration that he wants to close the borders to money as well as people...
Tax related charges in California, is that part new or same old? https://www.threads.net/@apnews/post/C0kuHYnL4bw/?igshid=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==
Also… Marcy Wheeler is of the impression that conviction will be difficult as there is apparently evidence that Weiss’s team recommended against felony charges but changed it’s mind after Trump’s White House interfered. Hunter Biden will have to choose whether to explain to jury, during the POTUS campaign, how he spent $383,548 on sex workers in one year OR whether he fights to show that Trump illegally influenced this prosecution--of which there is proof in case file. https://t.co/uv1r93Q3Gq— emptywheel (seiceáil) (@emptywheel) December 8, 2023
ATM and cash withdrawals. Still astounding but at least some of it was presumably in the comfort of the inside of a bank. The indictment is just comically sad. Hunter Biden was or is a really messed up person. But the way I look at it, the indictment actually undercuts the Republican argument that President Biden financially benefited from Hunter Biden’s “influence peddling”. Looks like that honor belongs the escorts and drug dealers.
The way they want to destroy Hunter to hurt Joe is wild. They view his love for his son as a vulnerability.
IIRC the collapse of the plea deal was mostly to do with what is not included. The elephant in the room was a future Trump admin reopening this prosecution which is what hunter wanted to prevent and DOJ did not clearly agree to. Preet believes this case is way overcharged.
Joe Biden can take care of himself. It's that his unconditional love for his deeply ********ed-up son is the 'vulnerability' they're targeting says something really awful and bad about their base (and frankly, a broad swath of American culture in general)--that's the part that bothers me. There's something fundamentally indecent about it. "A republic, if you can keep it" should be taken as a challenge to "We the People" to hold up our end of the bargain. And far too many Americans take positive glee in refusing to do so.
There's no doubt that Hunter Biden is an absolute train wreck of a human being. Privilege and wealth have protected & enabled him for decades.
Yeah, but if it's true that he spent $383,548 on sex workers in one year, that's one hell of an achievement. Give the man some props.

He wasn’t always a complete F******** up, but always not on the straight and narrow. When Beau died, he went WAY off the rails. I don’t think he was planning to survive that bender.
I have no clue if there is any connection. But having his salary with this company cut in half a couple of months after his father left the VP position and then consistently tapering off the next couple of years is a terrible look. Shady.
