I have read £190m over the next 12-months and £320m over 5 years. Whatever it turns out to be, it is the end of aiming for the bottom of the table. Our world is about to change. There are already a flood of speculation, so please limit yourselves to reputable publications or realistic claims. Beyond that, have fun! Our transfer activity has usually been the worst in the league, and now, even if it's modest, I no longer expect to be depressed when the window closes. Maybe we won't be high rollers, but we will at least roll!
We've been linked with so many players! Supporters are having even more ridiculous wishlists. If it's a news source anybody has heard of, then it's fair game here. Let's enjoy everyone thinking that we might be competition to land a top transfer.
There seems to be more rumors of Directors of Football and Managers than players. So maybe we can start there. Director of Football -------------------------- Ralf Rangnick, Red Bull Marc Overmars, Ajax Andrea Berta, Atletico Madrid Manager ------------ Paulo Fonseca Lucien Favre Roberto Martinez Unai Emery Eddie Howe Frank Lampard Steven Gerrard Diego Simeone Ruled Out: Jose Mourinho Brendan Rodgers Antonio Conte
Amazing there's still no director, but the gaffer's in, and he has his first reinforcement: Kieran Trippier Suddenly, but not unexpectedly, we're in dire need of a striker. So, even with sufficient funds at long last, who are the right men to keep us up? We'll need a fullback and a striker at minimum, and neither can afford to flop.
Looks like we're getting Chris Wood as well. Hopefully he's ready to play against Watford this Saturday
Hard to tell if he’s losing form this year or is it just because Watford are poor and aren’t offering any support. He is playing today
Newcastle agree fee with Lyon in region of £30m to sign midfielder we beat out Arsenal and Juve. https://www.skysports.com/football/...with-lyon-in-region-of-30m-to-sign-midfielder
Sounds like they're still looking for striker help but that some significant pieces to making a fight to stay up are coming.
Don't know much about this Bruno kid, but from the chatter on reddit, he seems like a very good DM. Really hope the deal didn't fall through. I reckon we still need a CB and an attacking midfield (Lingard should be decent if we could get him on loan).
Some good stuff here: https://fbref.com/en/players/82518f62/scout/365_euro/Bruno-Guimaraes-Scouting-Report
Holy molly look at that possession, passing and defense stats! He will be a major upgrade over everyone at that DM/CM position
"Olympique Lyonnais categorically denies the false information disseminated by many media reporting an agreement between Newcastle and OL for the transfer of Brazilian international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes." Please happen. Bruno + a CB would give me hope to stay up.
Understand NUFC have agreed a deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Lyon. More to follow @MailSport— Craig Hope (@CraigHope_DM) January 27, 2022 Thank god...
It has been a crazy window. I want to make a loose summary of players we've been linked to or made offers for. Two are in, several went somewhere else, and many more were rejected, but might still be alive. The January window closes on Monday at 11pm. Done £12m Kieran Trippier - Atletico Madrid £25m Chris Wood - Burnley Rumored Bruno Guimaraes - Lyon Dan Burn - Brighton Diego Carlos - Sevilla Duvan Zapata - Atalanta Hugo Ekitike - Arsenal Eddie Nketiah - Reins Jesse Lingard - Manchester United Dele Alli - Tottenham Mitchel Bakker - Leverkusen Thomas Muller - Bayern Bernd Leno - Arsenal Alvaro Morata - Juventus James Tarkowski - Burnley Hamza Choudhury - Leicester Pape Abou Cisse - Olympiakos Darwin Nunez - Benfica Victor Osimhen - Napoli Issa Diop - West Ham Jeremiah St. Juste - Mainz Dead Sven Botman - Lille Fabian Ruiz - Napoli Aaron Ramsey - Juventus Lucas Digne - Everton Ashley Young - Villa Robin Gosens - Atalanta

Newcastle’s transfer business is not yet finished either as they are also hopeful of securing a loan deal for Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.
Newcastle United remain hopeful of finalising a deal for Manchester United's Jesse Lingard by Monday's transfer deadline. 90min understands Lingard has agreed terms with Newcastle on a move that will see the England international arrive on an initial deal until the end of the season. It is thought that despite the original deal falling through earlier this month, the lines of communication between Newcastle and Manchester United remained open, and there is confidence from both sides that the transfer will happen. Previously United's demands were too much for Newcastle, 90min having revealed that the Magpies would have to pay more than £10m to secure Lingard's services.
Deadline day possibilities seem to be: CB Dan Burn - Brighton. Might be done already LB Matt Targett - Villa CF Eddie Nketiah - Arsenal RW Jessie Lingard - Man U GK Dean Henderson - Man U. Only one loan allowed from Man U. CF Hugo Ekitike - Reims The CB seems crucial. Any of the attackers would be immensely helpful. Beyond that would be crazy to replace half the starting squad in the January window?! We shall see. I'll be refreshing newsnow all day, but if someone has a good transfer aggregator site that's readable, please let me know.
