The whole world needs to show the same courage as Mexico with regards to Cuba. Sheinbaum told Trump that she will keep sending oil to Cuba after cutting them off from Venezuela “Mexico sent a ship to Cuba with 85,000 barrels of crude oil, and President Claudia Sheinbaum told Donald Trump: "You don't tell me who I sell my oil to." "The oil belongs to the Mexicans and is for the Mexicans. Neither the United States nor any other country has a say in our client portfolio. We decide who we sell to, under what conditions, and at what time," affirmed the Mexican president. 2011065226892886326 is not a valid tweet id
A little more progress. 56 total confirmed political prisoner releases. I don't like how it's slower and slower. I smell a Godless Hairless coup attempt. At least three Americans freed in Venezuela amid slow political-prisoner releases
CNN is reporting that the Trump administration is considering using private security to guard oil fields in Venezuela. This is Roman Empire in decline shit. Does nobody know any history at all?????
He could have used the Wagner Group but Trump's bestie, Putey took care of that. How goes the investigation of the the crash of Yevgeny Prigozhin's plane.
I recommend this video, it's in French but you can have the english subtitles. He explains very well the background of Venezuela leading to recent events
I think you mean Trump has decided to award Eric prince a no bid contract worth hundreds of millions to stick mercenaries in Venezuela
Maria Corina Machado gave her Nobel Prize medal to Trump but still hasn't received his support. LOL. How shameful of Machado. And on top of that, she said, "He deserves it, it was very touching moment". Anyway, I don't give any credence whatsoever to this far-right, ultraliberal woman who's very close to the Argentinian Milei and the Pinochet supporter Kast. https://www.liberation.fr/internati...-soutien-20260116_XJ3FT5KVYJGZPEIFPSPIJOC6GQ/ (And Nobel isn't what it used to be...) Beurk (yuck) !
Before the White House meeting on Thursday, the Nobel Peace Center clarified that "a medal can change owners, but the title of a Nobel Peace Prize laureate cannot".
Never was. Just a reminder that in 1949 Antonio Egaz Moniz was given the Nobel Medicine Prize for his work on lobotomy, and who can forget Henry Kissinger getting the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975? As far as I can tell, Maria Corina Machado's grovelling is for nothing.
A desperation Ave María? What’s happened in Venezuela seems like a variation on an old gag, one we’ve seen many times in the movies. Trump: Who’s in charge here? Maduro: I am. Trump: (kidnaps Maduro) Trump: Who’s in charge here? Rodríguez: You are. Presumably, if Trump gets the cooperation he needs from Rodríguez & Co, she’ll remain in place. Machado would be a good choice, and perhaps a popular one, but helping/installing her would at a minimum require some empathy for Venezuelans and their struggles. Empathy not being one of Trump’s strong suits, Machado will have to keep waiting, and now empty-handed.
Everyone on this situation came out bad. Trump acting like a toddler (again) and getting a made up award. MCM sucking up to said toddler to get support that she wont get. I think this move will lower her popularity. And all of us get second hand embarrasment in all of this. I can't believe the US selected this much of a idiot as the head of state. Twice.
I've been doing some research, and pretty much everyone agrees Trump has shown a remarkable lack of empathy throughout his life. There's only one instance in which he displayed empathy. At the height of The Apprentice's popularity, one kid requested the Make-a-Wish foundation to have Trump personally say "You're fired!" to his face, but surprisingly Trump couldn't bring himself to do such a thing because it felt too mean-spirited, so instead he gave the kid a lot of money and told him to enjoy that money and have the time of his life. I wonder what came over Trump to show empathy that one time.
But is it really empathy to deny a kid his Make-a-Wish request? I mean, he could have fulfilled the kid's "dying" wish and given the kid money. This is just another example of Trump putting his feelings over someone else's yet again.
I think for the sake of our sanity, it's best not to spend any more time trying to figure out what goes on Donald Trump's mind. He's just way too unpredictable.
1. Paris is worth a Mass has been updated to Caracas is worth a photo op. (Damn, I’m one clever son of a gun!) 2. When I introduced my children to the music of Bjork, I made them laugh by saying her name as if I were vomiting. Try it yourself! With the slightest adjustment, her name sounds like someone throwing up!
It’s been said before and bears repeating here. Trump has one, and only one, redeeming quality, and that’s the way he invariably humiliates his psychophants. (I finally got to use this neologism in a sentence!). He hates his supporters more than we do.
There was an incident I think in the 1990s where there was an event to honor people who had donated to some cause or other. He got up onto the podium as if he were one of the main donors. So to answer your question, he did it for the PR. Yep. When you stare into the abyss, the abyss also stares into you. Trump makes it incredibly hard for us to avoid becoming hate machines. He is poisoning our souls.
The above news is ok (I hesitate to call it 100% good) because Hairless is publicly showing support. Every day where there is no coup attempt is good because eventually they will have to call for elections. Regarding Maria Corina Machado, you may not like her politics but she was front and center fighting for a democratic election when others ran or secretly coordinated with the regime. From what I have heard, she was tireless and unrelenting. When she was put on a no fly list she traveled the country by car. When gas stations didn't allow her to fuel up supporters would help out. When the regime banned her candidacy, an old politician stepped up and coordinated with her as vice-president but he always referred to her as the leader of the opposition. Finally, she strategized voting precinct volunteerism and coordinated smuggling the voting acts from Venezuela to prove to the world that there had been fraud. She's earned a lot of respect from anyone who loves democracy.
https://www.reuters.com/world/ameri...-cabello-began-months-before-raid-2026-01-17/ Apparently, the only person in Venezuela surprised by Maduro's capture was Maduro. Not much loyalty in this regime.
"Despicable"?!?! Do you have the slightest idea the risks her supporters have taken and are still taking to support her? Likely not but you could start learning by asking your grandparents what France was like under Vichy, never mind the Germans. They saw plenty of "despicable" things, I'm sure. You could follow that by asking them what compromises they or their parents made to survive. Don't forget to to judge them as strictly as you judge Machado. Oh and please don't forget to enlighten us as to the results As one of Churchill's cabinet remarked, "it would be impertinent for a country that did not suffer occupation to carry a judgment on another one that suffered one" or are you one of those who thinks this despicable gaggle of back-stabbing sellouts is anything other a domestic occupation regime of run from a den of thieves?
