Western intelligence has said several times that the only thing Iran is missing from making a nuke is putting the fissile material into the bomb casing. The have enough fissile material for around 20 bombs after another round of enrichment, but have held off from going that final step for unknown reasons.

Citation needed. It seems rather odd that Iran would permit inspections under the NPT while simultaneously taking forty freaking years to build a nuke.

I've been hearing fearmongering about an Iranian nuke for my entire adult life (and I'm not exactly young), so the idea that an Iranian nuke is somehow imminent is a rather extraordinary claim at this point requiring substantial evidence.
