I ask because I do not know and I am curious. How does the 5% manage to control the unhappy 95%?

It takes deep sociological research but unfortunately people of Iran have a kind of PTSD of the past Revolution. People have been literally RUNNING out of the country for the past ten years. As other posters mentioned, the Brain Drain has been huge. People have learnt that they can save themselves and leave the country than stay and fix this shit and paying the price by their life. Many people are pessimistic about another revolution, they don't think that the country is fixable. On the other hand they severely lack a ruthless charismatic powerful leader like Khumeini in the 70s.

Why is the Iranian state broadcaster wagging her index finger at the audience prior to her tv station being blown up? She giving a speech or something?

Latest from Bibi - I think this is a huge assumption that could lead to a catastrophic miscalculation.

Khamenei has been a big reason why Iran has not procured nuclear weapons yet.

Not my opinion but straight from Tulsi Gabbard during a Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on March 25, 2025, regarding Iran's nuclear program.

    She said:
“The IC continues to assess that Iran is not building a nuclear weapon and Supreme Leader Khamenei has not authorized the nuclear weapons program that he suspended in 2003.”

Killing him now would just remove the last obstacle and Iran would go nuclear. I also think it's naive to believe that Iran doesn't have a succession mechanism in place in case of his assassination.

This was never about nuclear weapons - this is all about Bibi's survival and body bags on all sides will pile up for it

Yes, they only want peace so they can build a nuclear weapon so they can destroy Isreal.

It's a coin toss at this point, I agree. If Iran collapse after the assassination of 1 man without any contingency plans, how did that civilization ever lasted close to 6000 years? Personally, I find this doubtful and another attempt by Bibi to encourage NATO to jump in.

I see "projection" as I'm more willing to bet that Bibi being out of the picture would end the conflict

Deflecting much? Where did I ever said any of the above

  23. Yeah.
I can't wait for the ayatollahs to get the kick under their asses out of control of the government.
Numbers like that however seem indeed wishful thinking. Let's not forget the difference between rural and city population either. I'm willing to bet that Teheran could be 75% against the regime, because of the urban lifestyle and exposure to more western influences. In rural communities it might be completely the other way around.
So this "evacuate Teheran, because we're going to bomb it" in my opinion wouldnot create support for any Israeli meddling.
It would only create the notion between non-hard liners/anti-ayatollahs that for Iran to be safe, a nuke is necesary.

I've been avoiding commenting in this thread because its such a disaster, but will break my silence to say this: people have been raising the specter of an Iranian nuke for going on forty years now, and we've yet to see them get especially close.

That leads to two plausible conclusions: (1) they aren't trying for a nuke, or (2) they are Dr. Nick levels of incompetent.
