I was just saying it is possible for a country to have nuclear energy without having an enrichment program. I didn't say it was a violation of the NPT. Again, not disagreeing with your timeline above.
It's largely semantic at this point. Iran has 274kg of uranium enriched up to 60% and it takes 42kg of 60% enriched uranium to make one atomic bomb of 90% uranium. They have also increased the rate at which they are enriching Uranium up to 60% having added 90kg between November 2024 and February 2025. Iran also has the bombs themselves created, so just needs another round of enrichment to get up to 90% and an assembly process to get the bomb. https://apnews.com/article/iran-nuc...ranium-trump-0b11a99a7364f9a43e1c83b220114d45 And yes, it is very odd that the Trump administration expects Iran to abide by the nuclear deal the Obama administration, EU, and Iran agreed to, while the US does not abide...
And that's justification to bomb them why exactly? Let's be real, the US would just find another excuse no matter what they do to go at them. Isn't that why the deal was violated? However, If such a deal is necessary - the US has lost all credibility to be at the table. Other parties/guarantors needs to be at the negotiation table
If they were truly worried about nukes inIran maybe they shouldn't have torpedoed the deal that did exactly that. But it was made by a black man so priority number one was to tear it up.
Very positive to hear of this cooperation Yemen Coast Guard reported intercepting a #Houthi smuggling operation in the northern Arabian Sea in coordination with @USNavy. A boat from #Iran carrying explosives and weapons parts was seized, and several Yemeni smugglers were detained. #Yemenhttps://t.co/kTKmoug8bj https://t.co/H3OKTLjcyY pic.twitter.com/AzmO0DfeZp— Marwa J Ghumrawi | مروة غمراوي (@MarwaGhumrawi) May 12, 2025
US embassy in Baghdad being evacuated. Sounds like something could be going down regarding Israel and Iran.
Israeli sources are reporting that fighter aircraft can be heard tonight over Northern and Central Israel, believed to likely be departing from airbases and heading northeast towards Syria.
Israels ability to do anything about Irans nuclear infrastructure, without heavy lifting from the US, is very much in doubt. The destruction of Irans atomic program requires sustained bombardment by a strategic airforce, which only the US possesses, as opposed to a tactical airforce that Israel has. The objective could be to start something which would inevitably draw in the US. This could also be posturing to force Irans hands to accept the terms that Trump has put forward. The probability of war has definetely gone up. I would put it at 50/50.
The scene has certainly been set for it, posturing or not. With the movement of strategic bombers to Diego Garcia, evacuation of personel etc. Sometimes these things have a life of their own and become a self fulfilling prophecy.
I've seen reports that the sixth round of talks are off, but other reports that the US will still be meeting with Iran this weekend. Since it doesn't sound like Israel has hit Iran yet, I wonder what those Israeli fighter jets were mobilized for.
Per Trump: "I want to have an agreement with Iran. I'd much prefer an agreement. As long as I think there is an agreement, I don't want [Israel] going in ... I'd much prefer the friendly route."
Axios reporting that the US has informed Israel that it will not be participating in an airstrike on Iran. So no bunker busters.
Too much flip flopping by Trump (on every single foreign policy issue) to take anything he says at face value. He cant conduct a coherent and consistent policy on pretty much anything.
I’d be very, very surprised. The “TACO” thing has legs because Trump does, in fact, always chicken out.
