I think he meant the US embassy in Iran at the time?

I assumed he meant that Iran attacked US forces but the poster can explain his own words.

The immediate example I had in mind when posting that was the ballistic missile attack on US forces in Iraq following the killing of Suleimani, but there are the embassy bombings in Beirut in 1983 which the Iranians were allegedly behind, and the attack on the US embassy in Tehran in 1979.

I do take your point though, the ballistic missile attacks were retaliatory responses by the Iranians.

So an attack on US forces overseas, allegations of involvement in an attack on a US embassy and a siege of an embassy by students.

I wasn’t directly making the point that Iran attacked USA. (Someone else made that point and I’m ambivalent on it.)

I was making the point that Vietnam didn’t attack France, USA and China.

Too much maintenance. Just use the below on any of their ships attempting to dock. Do you know how slow those sailing ships were?

I have no idea what to think of this

So either this is sour grapes on Iran behalf or they really believe S-400 is not that great

Im not entirely convinced of this. The history of US-Iran relations is fraught with mistrust owing to Mossadeq overthrow, hostage taking of American diplomats, US support of Iraq in the war, the bombing of US marine barracks in Beirut and Khobar towers etc etc

Despite all that, countries generally overcome such history if they deem it in their strategic interest to realign relations. Thats just the nature of realpolitik.

At the very heart of the current conflict is a geostrategic competition for regional influence between Iran and US. Israel is a complicating factor (but not decisive) in the bad relations.

Mossadeq was fiercely independent, and was not afraid to piss off Western powers in pursuit of Iranian interests (like the nationalisation of oil).
If he pursued that policy, had he remained in power, Im not convinced the nature of the relationship between Iran and the US would have been all THAT different.

Ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, which does seem like Israel comes out on top by having its demands met, and delinking the Northern front from Gaza conflict.

We'll see if it holds, but strategically this will be a win for Israel, especially if they can keep up their bombardment of Gaza without having to worry about rocket fire from Hezbollah, and if they convince the citizens of the North to return to their homes.
