It's also worth repeating that Jacques Chirac was right on each of his 3 main objections to the Iraq War as expressed to Amanpour on CNN (if I remember correctly - it's obviously been a while, but I remember thinking at the time that he made a lot more sense than W to me): 1) there was no evidence for weapons of mass destruction, 2) ousting Saddam would be easy, but maintaining peace would be harder and, if I remember the 3rd correctly, it would destabilize the region allowing for an even worse situation to arise, as it did with ISIS.

    He’d get impeached for sure.

If you’re saying Bacon is wrong that this would end his presidency, that he would be convicted by the Senate, I agree.

It's Americans who buy stuff from those countries who have to pay more. Why his supporters are cool with this, I'll never understand.

I’m starting to suspect Trump had an unreported stroke. Strokes sometimes affect personality, and something has changed in him in the past 3 weeks or so.

On the 3rd point ... I am not sure destabilizing the region more wasn't part of the objective.

Right, but the idea was to destabilize it for the better…the idea was that our nation building in Iraq would be so successful that the people in other nations in the region would clamor to be next. We were going to turn Iraq into a democratic ally, then Iran, and so on.

It's more than time for Europe to hurt the GAFAM. They have all the legal tools at their disposal to do so.

Chirac was a lazy and generally useless President, but I will be eternally grateful to him for not dragging us into this mess. This, and for having ordered the French 'Blue helmets' soldiers belonging to the United Nations Peacekeeping to disobey the UN mandate, ordering them to carry out offensive actions against the Serbs, such as the recapture of a bridge in Sarajevo by a group of soldiers leading the assault with bayonets fixed to the end of their rifles. I suppose that's the last time this kind of thing happened.

Well besides the obvious fact that Denmark is an ally and EU member state, the main issue is that everyone knows capitulating on this matter will only further unleash Trump and his territorial aspirations. It would confirm Europe as weak beyond belief, so why not grab everything you can get whilst you are at it.

It's possible that this madman could succeed in doing what Europe hasn't managed since its inception: creating a union that isn't just commercial and monetary, but also political and military. The road is long, but it's not impossible, if European leaders show a little courage.

People keep saying that the World Cup should be taken away from the USA. It's a completely laughable argument because Trump and Infantino are two pieces of undigested corn in a giant steaming shit.

But when Trump attacks Greenland I think it'll be a step too far for the Europeans. I can not imagine they would participate. I can see Brazil and Uruguay dropping out in that scenario too.

So congratulations to Argentina on their fourth star.

Society forgets the current "big outrage of the moment" so fast.

Remember when we were all supposed to boycott the NFL because they blackballed Colin Kapernick? Then the right boycotted them because they went woke. How about those Super Bowl ticket prices in 2026!

Remember when the left hated the right for committing violence in DC on 1/6/2021? Violence against cops is ok again! Some delusional leftists seem to think rapes and murders only happen because cops exist and we need to abolish all police...but then what do we do with the rapists and murderers?

I'm also old enough to remember FIFA not moving the World Cup from Russia and Qatar. Keep wasting your energy on that one, you delusional people.

I don't see Brazil or Uruguay dropping out. Probably not even all European countries. Though it's apparently already a discussion within Germany even outside of a potential Greenland annexation.

Qué? Who is advocating for violence against cops? People are asking for ICE not to assault citizens (and immigrants) with impunity. So asking for some basic standards of operational behavior from law enforcement is now too much?

Either @roadkit or @Potowmack have. Maybe others.

And while I don’t agree, I understand where they’re coming from.

    1) They don't know what's gonna cost more. They think they're hurting a wealthier bunch, but they're not. They're just hurting a smarter bunch. Stuff like watches. You think the average fundie conservative (I'm not talking about not leader conservative like Charlie Kirk or Julius Streicher or Stephen Miller. I mean the rank and file ones) would care about a decent timepiece?

    2) they're willing to pay a bit themselves to see everyone else hurt.
Realistically, there's something any one of us individuals care about enough to suffer personally for it. We'd all die for something. They're willing to die for Christ and for Trump. Whether they think they're the same person is irrelevant.
