Here are some thoughts of what, in my opinion, would make a great World Cup:

    1. Most, if not all of the Groups still have at least one place up for grabs on the last match day.

    2. Every continent has one team in the last 16.

    3. Big name players live up to their names.

    4. Good atmosphere.

    5. Sold out games

    6. Good refereeing (no goals awarded when ball hits bar and doesn't cross line)

    7. One underdog reaching the Q/F or S/F

    8. Holland live up to their true abilities

    9. Italy play attractive football for a change.

    10. Spain live up to their abilities.

    11. England manage to play a tournament without a red card

    12. Good, clean, attacking, attractive football all round

    13. Lots of good looking woman at the games!

Also no match fixing. But then again it is in Germany so it is inevitable.

    15. No diving.

    16. No time-wasting.

    Too far-fetched?

fixing wont be the problem cause you can tell when a game is fixed lets just hope theres fairplay.

I hope for great goals, new stars, some upsets, and a few brilliant spontaneous displays of sportsmanship like at the end of the third-place match in 2002.

I hope to see at least one thriller uv a game with at least 8 goals, four from each side and the deciding goal scored in the final dying minutes uv the game . Preferably at the Final itself.

I'd love to see a WC which includes a few upsets. I also love to see a couple of new teams making it into the elite group of semi-finalists. The '02 WC had Turkey and Korea in the semis. I'm hoping for an Asian, an African, a South American, and a European team in the semis. Ideally the semis will look like this:

    Brasil vs. Ivory Coast
    Germany vs. Iran

Of course I picked Iran because she is my team, but you get the idea. Fill in the blank for yourself.

Honestly, while I'd like to see the USA in the final...I'd be happy as long as its not Brazil or Germany.....or MEXICO, unless we are facing them, which might not even be possible. Anyway, you know what I mean.

Maybe not, but there have been 7 red cards in 6 years. Not a good record for an Intl team.

For the 6 years 2000-2005 I've tracked down 2 red cards for England, Smith in 2002 and Beckham this year. What are the other five?

And what are other teams' records like - do Fifa or anybody keep a list somewhere or anything that you know of?

No timewasting and no diving would be perfect. Then again, I'm not sure Italy, Germany or any of the South American teams would turn up.

The United States, once, JUST ONCE, being awarded a penalty kick.
