Or double down. How many tea party congresspersons are in danger of losing their seat? I know Walsh should lose to Duckworth in Illinois. What if all the gains (most) are from democrats taking out moderates, and if more tea party candidates get elected in heavy republican districts, also taking out more moderate Republicans? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_Party_Caucus#Members.2C_112th_Congress 61 Reps caucus with the Tea Party, I wonder how many will return? How many Tea Party members won primaries against more moderate Republicans this election?
http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2011/04/tea-party-primary-threats-gop I wonder how many in their hit list they were able to take down.
looks like from what I can tell of the house map, there are 7 or so seats that haven't been called that are leading dem and 2 or 3 that lead republican. so +8 for dems?
GOP keeps the house through gerrymandering. Pennsylvania House delegation is 13-5 GOP and Ohio is 12-4 GOP. Obama won both states.
It's interesting to me how much the two parties have switched strategic positions since the 1980's. In the 1980's the Democrats controlled state governments everywhere, gerrymandered the House Districts and had a decades long grip on the House of Representatives. Meanwhile the Republicans had more success in Senate and presidential elections.
The house map looks very red (the way Yahoo shows it) http://news.yahoo.com/control-room/?on=mediaiframe
Jesse Jackson Jr. has resigned. How nice of him to wait until he wins re-election, thus forcing the Illinois government to spend taxpayer money to hold another election they should never had had to hold.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politic...resignation-could-cost-taxpayers-5-1-million/ Part of the cost would be due to political welfare, where the state pays for primary elections for the major party candidates.
Well the system does suck when in some states people re-elect dead people (reminds me of the movie The Distinguished Gentleman) and in Illinois we re-elect 2 guys being investigated for using public funds for personal gains and/or taking bribes. That shit happens with districts that are way to red or blue.
Yet this guy continues on http://www.knoxnews.com/news/2012/nov/22/desjarlais-regret-past-actions-no-plans-to/
