http://www.awfulannouncing.com/warner-bros-discovery/max-sports-add-on-charge.html It seems the "Sports Add-On" for Max could be coming this month. It'd be great when/if Venu launches to have an option where it'd be included in Max if someone also has Venu.
1) DirecTV and Disney ended their dispute early this AM. 2) One of the additions will be the new package from Disney/Fox/WB Discovery. It seems this will be one way for those customers to stream TNT/TBS/USA programming, even if they already get it via the regular TV provider app. As of now, I can watch the Max Sports tier via my Max app...when it ends, I guess I may have to download this new app. (I'd imagine a DirecTV Stream user will continue to get TNT/TBS stuff via the DirecTV Stream app...but this will allow this new app to be promoted and downloaded because people might think they need two apps.) I just wish this whole "ring around the rosies" thing would end and especially with NBC/Hulu. It's only slightly confusing as to what is where...heck, you still can't get the current season of the Simpsons in the archives alongside past seasons, even if you get both Hulu and Disney+. Yes, they're both accessible via Disney+.

https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/wa...craps-separate-sports-tier-launch-1236321101/ The sports tier of Max is officially not happening.
Sports tiers make no sense unless you've got exclusive rights to every game from a league, like Apple does with MLS. Even then, the Season Pass cost works out to $8.25/mo if you do the annual deal, $6.58/mo with the annual deal and an existing Apple TV+ subscription, or free if you've got something like T-Mobile. Nobody is going to pay an extra monthly fee for a sports tier, especially if it's 3-4 NBA games per week, 3-4 NHL games per week, and not much else.
They're losing the NBA stuff. IIRC, it would have been: 1) US Soccer 2) Some random college football/basketball stuff with most of that being postseason 3) Various in-car feeds of NASCAR races 4) MLB on TBS 5) Bicycling that isn't Le Tour de France 6) NHL on TNT 7) What else?
It's probably not what you're thinking of, but what about something that includes 1-2 outdoor-type channels (hunting/fishing stuff), MLB Strike Zone, NFL RedZone, the out-of-market RSNs and maybe stuff like Fox Sports 2, Fox Deportes, Gol TV, TUDN, FanDuel TV and FanDuel Sports TV? (Keep in mind the last two are not the RSNs.)
Maybe? With that said, all Bassmaster fishing is now on Roku Channel for free. You can get the Outdoor Channel as part of Frndly TV, with 50+ total channels, for as low as $6.99/mo. TUDN is part of the main package on services like YouTube TV. I feel like FS2, CBSSN, and some of the more obscure soccer channels are the only things really pulling in purchases of the "Sports Pack" type add-ons, and I doubt they're doing much.
If RedZone insists on sneaking commercials into their show, anything can happen there...but it's not what it once was. They used to go until the very end of the last game, only ending at 8pm ET if that game went past 8pm. They'd do their TD montage in a split-screen with the end of that final game. Now, thanks to the affiliates complaining, as soon as there's one game left, NFL RZ goes back to the studio for the wrap-up Old way: You could essentially watch the final moments of that last game without commercials. RedZone would go back to the studio when CBS or Fox would go to commercials. New way: "If you want to watch the remainder of this game, turn to your local affiliate now. For international viewers, we'll go back there." There's a small number of times when that last game isn't available on a local affiliate. Say CBS has the doubleheader when Fox doesn't have the late game in that area. If the late CBS games finished quicker than the late Fox games... It's rare, but it *has* happened to me. But it still remains a popular draw for 18 Sundays every year. As far as the other 34 weeks? How popular is MLB Strike Zone?

https://www.ussoccer.com/all-matches Here's some stuff I've noticed: 1) Women's games have been getting announced in pairs. One game is on TBS and the other is on TNT. Most are also on TruTV... I'll get to that later. 2) Right now, there are three pairs of games. The first game in the second two pairs is on TBS. The first game in the first pair is on TNT. (Is there a rhyme or reason as to what games are on TBS or TNT? Perhaps.) 3) Games seem to be on TruTV as often as possible, but this is probably dependent on other sports. As of now, the only games NOT on TruTV are the USWNT vs China games. 4) Both men's games are on TBS and TruTV. 5) TruTV seems to show the entire 3.5 hours from the beginning of the pregame show to the end of the postgame show.
