Good signs: Bardales and Glinton both played. Looks like they are recovering nicely from their injuries. Thank you Craig Waibel, 90 minutes from our "guest" player. As I said on the SJ board, I will be required to chant "LA reject" when I see him next, but my heart wont really be in it.
FWIW, some of us who were at the game last night have comments here: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22745. Cadaver, maybe your heart really should be in it after all. I admit in that thread that I'm not sure who made the terrible back pass that led to the Santos goal, but I think it could've been Waibel. I admit that I may be wrong about him - the play happened very quickly and no one, including Hartman, could've seen it coming. Maybe someone in LA with access the Galaxy organization could get a more definite answer about who sent that ball back toward the Galaxy goal. Otherwise, the Galaxy defense played quite well.
Waibel has developed into a pretty steady defender. That's not to say he didn't screw up with the back pass - I wasn't there. I just don't necessarily write off a guy because of one mistake and he put in some very creditable and solid minutes for us this last year. I understand that he was a victim of the numbers game with Hong coming on board. I even expect that we have upgraded. But, I won't feel that way if we are forced into playing Adam Frye in the back line because of injuries or national tema call-ups.
Cadaver, I wasn't suggesting writing anyone at all off - especially since I point out three times that I'm not even sure it was Waibel. And certainly, no team can play as solidly defensively against Santos as the Galaxy did last night unless everyone is defending well and Waibel, of course, was on the field the whole game. Just jokin' with ya' - that's what the is about.
You think we're playing this friendly to try and keep the team together for the rumored interamerica cup match with boca juniors? But if that was true there'd be a lot more scrimmages scheduled but who knows maybe there will be more.
"However, the best opportunity came in the 24th minute, when Chris Albright dribbled in on goal, but the keeper denied the Galaxy striker's attempt." why does this not surprise me in the least????? also, it's nice to see gavin back in action.... hope this guy can step up next year
He's not playing for Municipal. I've a feeling that if a match were arranged in the offseason, he'd show up.
