Atleast nobody warms benches like him, I mean you can put two benches under that arse of his and he will still keep them both as warm as it gets.

Nothing if the amount of goals scored is all you look at. But I can tell you this, of these three van Basten did the most work of the ball. Most likely more then the other two players combined.

If you Ronaldo fans need more proof, pick up the latest CHAMPIONS magazine and look at the list of the 20 players who influenced and changed the game the most. I can tell you that Ronaldo ain't on that list but der Bomber is.

i put in perspective a example from 1967:

comming from the second division bayern has played 2 years later 1967 the first time eurocup games (rookie team)...

    first round:
    away game presow-bayern 1:1
    home game bayern-presow 3:2
the goalscores was 1:1 up to minute 70,müller has scored 2 goals in a timespan of 2 minutes (71-72) for a 3:1 lead, presow fought back ,has scored a goal and hit the post, in the last few minutes müller has blocked a shot on the own goaline to avoid elimination in eurocup...

    second round:
    away game rovers-bayern 1:1
    home game bayern -rovers 3:2
bayern had a 2:0 lead but rovers fought back to drew the game 2:2..rovers was 4 minutes away to elimate bayern munich and it was müllers leftshot in minute 86 where has eliminated rovers...

after the game he was called in the medias:
    müller with the golden legs...

    quarter final:
    away game austria-bayern 1:0
home game bayern austria 2:0 after extratime..
the goalscores was 1:0 up to minute 90..extratime was needed..it was müllers goal in extratime for the 2:0 who has eliminated austria vienna and has eliminated a possible coin decision..

    semifinal:
home game bayern-standart liege 2:1 (müller goal for the 1:0)
    away game standart-bayern 1:3
bayern has played excellent and müller has scored all 3 goals to eliminate standart liege(a fourth goal of him was recalled for some reasons)
    roger petit:
müller is like uwe seeler,he is worth gold for bayern and tht NT..with a player müller not munich could play the final, his team could play the final...

final bayern -glasgow rangers (glasgow was favorite)
bayern won after extratime 1:0 (goal roth) in a very good game...in a NT game (his third game for the NT) he double broken his forearm in a action..this game was only 4 weeks before the eurocup final...john fairgrive from the scottish daily mail: if müller isnt 100% fit it could be a selfmurdered action to play with müller..müller has played the 120 minute final with a huge leatherfixed forearm...he was forced to visit the referee twice before the game to get the ok to play the final....
limited to play his normal game with this handicap müller has played a excellent final and the decision to play with him was more than successful, everybody has confirmed it.......

he did more than only to score a amount of goals in his career.....his goals won important games and he helped out in midfeld or in the defensive too if needed (for bayern)...and he wasnt afraid to play a eurocup final with a big handicap ......

this was only 1 little example ( eurocup 1967, with age 21) what müller did in his career.....in addition :eek:nly 10 days after the eurocup final ,müller won the german cup final scoring 2 goals inclusive gamewinner..in 4 german cup games 1967 he has scored goals in every game ,3 times the gamewinners...

I liked that summary. Better than any story about Ronaldo.

    impressive...but so what?
ronaldo won the world cup in 2002 scoring 8 goals when no one - not even most brazilian supporters - expected him to ever recover from his year long injuries

what is this "eurocup" by the way?

the term "eurocup" in my book is the tournament in which the best european national teams take part
    that's why i ask
i'm not really versed in european club tournaments held back in the '60s

    yes it can be misleading...

    worldcup aka worldchampionship
    eurocup aka eurochampionship...

i generell call eurocup (cupwinners, champions, uefa ect..) to clubs and eurochampionship for NT tournament...

It was the European Cup of Cup winners. So all the European teams that won their national cup participated. It was consolidated with the UEFA Cup a few years ago as both, the Cup winners Cup and the UEFA Cup started to become less important after the introduction of Champions League and its expansion to second, third and even fourth placed teams. But back in the days the Cup winners Cup had (almost) the same quality as the European Cup of Champions (predecessor of Champions League).

This makes me even more intrigued as to who else is on the list.

I honestly don't see how Muller influenced the game any more than any other great striker, and believe that there are only a handful of players who can claim to have had a lasting influence. If it was a list of managers, club officials and association members then it would probably be worthwhile.

A minor correction according to Yahoo! Ronaldo's Profile. It is advisable that you post the URL from where you get the stats.

I think what Ronaldo did in WC 2002, coming back after two years away from the game following major operations in his knees, and winning the WC scoring 8 goals is the greatest story of human achievement in football. Especially when there were doubts about him being able to walk properly again.

I don't even know where to start, Perhaps you think that way because you are so accustomed to watching the modern game with all the type of strikers that evolved out of Muller and the players of his time. You have to consider that all that had to come from somewhere.

Mueller made Bayern what it is today, the club was a second division team and with Muellers many many goals Bayern won the league, and the European Cup three times in a row. He was the ultimate penalty box predator, he could and scored with any part of his body, even though he didn't have the body for it. He was simply the most effective striker around.

Can't imagine Romario and Puskas have so few votes...they were not only great goal scorers but highly technical as well.
