Obviously there will be a number of players in this poll who could have featured in the attacking midfield poll and vice versa.

This is not for the out-right goal scorer position, but for the withdrawn attacker/provider.

In this I have perhaps given the slant towards S America and have tried to give some of the older players some recognition, although I doubt they will get any votes.

Where's Van Basten and Gerd Muller? Are they going to be on another poll? It was very good that you've mentioned Erico, Zizinho, Pedernera and Moreno because it's so rare for their names to be mentioned and they were legends in the South American game.

I voted for Baggio because Pele will get the rest of the votes.

They will be in the final players poll, one for out and out strikers.

I know he's not going to win this, but he's the best I've seen play.... by far.

I suspect a certain Luiz Nazario Da Lima Ronaldo would make an appearance in the Greatest Ever Striker poll.

Sometimes I really despair. I have now said twice THERE WILL BE ANOTHER POLL FOR STRIKERS.

Ronaldo is a striker, there can be no dispute on that.

I voted for my idol Roberto Baggio, but of course Pele will win this one. So many people never give him the credit he deserves because of the '94 penalty miss, and if he had not had so many knee surgeries, he could've been a much greater player.

I hope Romario makes it into the out and out strikers poll, i know there's no chance he was the greatest, but he was fun to watch... I know Pele will win this one, but where's Ole Gunnar? (I'm only half kidding)

Can't see anyone but Pele winning this one, so I'm giving my vote to Ladislao Kubala.

  16. Exactly what should inform voting in these polls? is it the voters informed choice or a need to spread the votes around such that no one player may be seen to completely dominate the polls?

Its your choice as to who you think is best, but I think if u like a certain player u might vote for him because u do, some people would also vote for a player who they find as a lesser evil... ie, vote for Maradona over DiStephano because they dont want Zidane to win because he's more popular.

I thought Zico was a genuine #10 type, offensive mid.

If Ronaldinho is in this poll I think it's unfair not to mention Rivaldo. At his peak he was better than Ronaldinho has ever been in his short career. Ronaldinho still has a chance to pass Rivaldo but as of yet he hasn't.

He's going to be in the out and out strikers poll. Who, in particular, is Ronaldo better than?
