    From the Metros-Crew game report:

The MetroStars had an opportunity to quickly tie the game in the 19th minute after defender Daniel Torres brought down striker Tommy Mooney in the
box. The penalty kick attempt by Jaime Moreno went wide right.

I wonder what kind of velocity his attempt had.

    No one mentioned a post.

His shot could have been headed for the touchline..... :)

Actually, he tripped before he got to the ball and hit it with his right flank, squirting the ball to the right. I talked with Jaime about this, and he promised to use a one step approach on his next effort.

That is the only bit of soccer news that has made me happy all week. Hopefully he will shine like that for us at RFK, just as he did last season.

This is good news. Now only if he and Richie would get cancer and die. :)

To quote the line I always yell at Zach Thornton about his 40-yard dash time, I'm wondering if they measured the speed of Jaime's penalty with a sundial or via carbon dating.

You've obviuously never been between Zach and the buffet table.

Sadly, I am quite confident that Zach Thornton could beat at least 2 members of our team in a foot race (Alegria and Quintanilla).

And, that's two of our field players...

Where's the next frame of Presthus pointing and laughing?

What's even funnier is that Presthus didn't even mean to dive to his left. He tripped just as Jaime was taking the PK and got lucky.

Good thing Villegas was flying in for the rebound. Although knowing him, even if Presthus had coughed up a rebound off that slow dribbler, Petter would have skied it over the bar from 4 yards out.

I won't miss him one bit.

Ben Olson is my most favorite person ever because out of the many times I have written in to online chats, he is the only one who has ever anwered the question "Who would win an all-you-can-eat contest between Tony and Zach."

The answer? "Thornton no doubt." :D

Well, duh. Tony would fill up his plate with too much pasta early on and be too carb-loaded for the main course.

"Oh me, oh my," I heard Meola cry.
"Oh me, oh my, I think I'm gonna die"
"Oh me, oh my," I heard Meola say.
"I wish I hadn't eaten all the pies today. HEY!"

Villegas might not be able to get those shots on goal, but he sure can dribble! :D

    Good point.

We need more MLS chats so players can ignore my stupid questions. :p

OK.... the pudgy Jamie would come in third behind Thornton, and Meola in the eating contest.
